Hi,
My girl and I want to get married in SL. Could someone explain how we would go about that? Is there an official town hall? Where do we register? Any tips or hints in regards to organizing the ceremony and the wedding party?
Any help is welcome.
Thanks in advance,

Hiya Kyros! How romantic. And a warm welcome to Second Life--a basic way of getting married and formally stating it is being Partners. You can send your proposal through there and once she accepts it, when you look in your profile, you'll both be listed as partners of each other. You can also have an inworld ceremony! Many ways to do that. General way is to use FIND > PLACES inworld and search for "wedding" and similar keywords. You can check out those matches. As for further info on how weddings are done in SL, there's a *lot* out there. I'm going to move this to General Topics so you can get all sorts of varied, assorted, lovey-dovey advice.

Kyros Kostolany I have been to some very elaborate and detailed weddings in SL. From the ceremony and vows to the reception and dance. Since this is YOUR world you can get as fancy or laid back as you like. As stated above, to let everyone know who your 'significant other' is in SL, 'partnering' is simple and quick. But if you really wanna make it a grander event you can do a search for folks who plan weddings and they can help you. There is great talent out there I know....I have however gone to 2 or 3 weddings that Jade Opal was in charge of and they were great. If I ever decided to marry my RL hubby in SL she'd be my choice

Changing names after marriage
06-06-2006 16:05
Thank you all for your tips and advice. I also got quite a few IMs from helpful people, so i'm a lot wiser now. But......from what i gathered my girl is going to keep her last name once we'll be married. And i'd like very much for her to take on my last name as would she. Is that possible at all or would the only solution be for her to get another account and transfer everything she has (which is quite a lot already since she loves to shop)?

Congratualtions to both of you.
At the moment there is no way for her to change her last name to yours. If you two want to share a last name one or the both of you will have to get a new account. But move fast because last names run out in a hurry. Only so many people can have a certain last name before it is retired.
