Two people play on the same home network at the same time?

My brother recently started to gain a little intrest in this game while watching me. I was wondering if me and him could be on SecondLife at the same time while on the same network. And if not, will I/him get banned for trying?

I'm not totally sure, but as long as you don't exceed the total number of accounts allowed per household, you're both over 18 and have separate accounts, I wouldn't see why there'd be a problem. I've heard of family members playing from separate computers and separate accounts... I'd check with a Linden to be sure, though.

well i am the only one that plays in second life in my house but i have two PCs running all the time now with 2 separate aves in world at the same time.
both computers are on the same wireless router and i have no problems at all.

and no you will not get in trouble for connecting through the same network. if that were the case family members could never play together At the same time.

Me and the wife play off the same local LAN.

No problems and we have different accounts and everything works fine.

I have wireless and my parents (YES, my parents play SL!) play at the same time as me. It's wireless but we have 3 accounts going at the same time. I don't think you should have any problems untill you have low bandwidth.

If you do have a problem, you may be able to solve the problem by adding "port" and a port number to the target line in the shortcut you use to start SL.

This is discussed in the support wiki, at Multiple PCs

Works here...

We've got two players in the household here. When we first tried, it didn't work -- turned out to be a problem with the gateway router (it was scrambling up the packets somehow). Replacing it fixed all the problems; we can both play SL at the same time, so long as we're willing to live with a slight increase in lag. (If we had a fat enough pipe, even that wouldn't be a problem.)

You should be able to. Here are some tips if you have weird problems:

Also, make sure you've got the latest version of your router's firmware! :-)

Don't forget to mention the fact you are both minors and belong on the teen grid. Cause if you are both forty and still living with your mom...uhm, never mind.

Why do they have to be 40? I'm living with my parents and I'm 18.

18 is still okay to be at home. But 40?!! Oh, wait...uhm I moved back for awhile when I was 40, so, uhm, maybe that is okay.
