This is the message I keep getting each time I try to log in. I have already done the pw thing and logged in all weekend. Just this morning, I click to log in and it pops up the window faster than I can say CHEESE. I tried clearing cache, restarting my computer.
I dont see any issues with others in the forums so I am wondering if this is just a solo problem. Any suggestions?
Thank You! Xplorer

Had the same, ended up reinstalling

I hope someone comes up with a better solution to this, but when it happened to me in the past and I confirmed that SL was up and running, restarted my computer, etc. I ended up deinstalling/reinstalling SL and everything worked fine. This of course is a substantive pain in the butt since you get defaults everywhere and have to reply to noob popups for the first day, etc.

Thanks for the concern Mac! Xplorer If I may offer some quick advice before you go spend the money.. Check out Avast! for antivirus. Totally free and works awesome. Much kinder on the resources too. For spyware grab the Yahoo toolbar (free again and has spysweeper built in) Just suggestions. McAfee is better then Norton though in my opinion. I have ran most of them hehe.

Thanks for the concern Mac! Xplorer Norton and Mcaffe suck but Mcaffee sucks the most Try this. It's free and fixes my problems alot. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/They will ask you to install an active x control and click yes. If you have pop up blocker, let it allow for this site so it will run correctly.

I was looking into it myself but it appears it is web base only?

It just runs till the scan is complete. It scans, finds infections and gets rid of them. It's webbased. There is an option to buy the software If you are looking for a scanner where you dont have to scan using their webpage and something worth buying, try Panda antivirus www.pandasecurity.comThey also have an active scan that is good too. www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/make sure your firewall is off or it won't run

Well so far the only thing both of the above listed programs found was a cookie that was sorta malicious....but ATM its still running for the third time and still nothing but that cookies. Soo i guess your right sorta?

Norton is by far the worst--the most intrusive, the most power-hungry antivirus out there.
AVG isn't bad but the virus definitions don't get updated as often.
McAffee is really good IF and only IF you have the enterprise edition, and I'd say that the enterprise edition is the least intrusive, best antivirus out there.
If you're talking firewall software too, get a router instead. Don't use firewall software.

If you go the router firewall route make sure you get a good one. Hardware firewalls are good but can be bypassed to and routers can generally be a pain in the ass. As detesting as it is Zone Alarms firewall is good but it does pull some resources. Its Security Suite is pretty good at early detection and if you regularly update it it can be a good problem. It is a resource hog however.... In all honesty i dont find it that intrusive and I do have a router and they can be bypassed by hackers if they really want in. Sygate was a good software firewall that was completely free and I mean really good...... Good enough that symantec bought it and turned it into an enterprise solution. You can still find an old version of it somewhere for free i'd reccomend that along with a router.
Spyware and stuff is a real pain. =/ Norton and Mcafee are quite frequently targeted and i dont bother with them anymore unless enterprise related as the home edition is far to easily bypassed and disabled.....

Mcaffee (no matter how much people diss it) has been my choice for about 10 years now. Theres 3 things about it that bother me. The auto updates that keep going even if you disabled them, the resources used up, and the fact that you gota keep buying a new copy of it every year because they ended your lease or something... However it has been a welcomed addition to all of my computers since i first found it in a staples office supplies store. I know this makes me look bad but i got tired of buyimg mcaffee after 6 years and started downloading it off p2p software.
