I call shenanigans on LL saying that Classified ads in the forums have to be limited to a 6-month age due to overly large attachments used in all parts of the forums.
That's just a sneaky ploy to force people from using the forums for free product advertising to using the inworld, L$ fee-based advertising mechanisms.

I have noticed the performance of the forums degrading, especially recently. Something must be causing it, and shrinking storage space could be it.
Today, half the time, they are timing out on me, and I know it's not just me because I have asked others to try it too, and they are getting timed out and/or slow load times as well.

I hope they don't delete old pictures of early SL members and their builds in the attempt to free up some space.
But they will.
I suppose we could start saving them to our own hard drives before they ax the history.
Maybe they should just assign the care of the attachments to the guy who deleted the Scripting Tips forum. Then they wouldn't need a policy, they could just offer an apology every so often.

Given how often 6-month old classified images must actually be viewed, I vote for forum management incompetence rather than malice or profit motives.
