anybody know if disable recieving group notices also disables recieving group IM's?

Why don't you test it out and report back your findings to us? I'm at work right now, or I'd check for myself.
Simply, disable the feature, and ask another group member to start a group IM session.

I did and no still get group IM's which makes sense since notices are new and it specifically says notices so group IM spam cant be disabled oh wells
