Have you ever suffered from the inventory loss that seems to plague the grid? Was Linden Lab helpful in getting your lost inventory back to you from their database backups?

This poll should be multiple choce - I've had inventory go poof and LL was helpful in getting it back for me, and I've also had inventory go poof, LL not seem to give a damn, and later it all just magically reappeared.

I've had inventory "magically reappeared" after being gone for weeks. LL for the most part does try to "appear" to care.

There's something little-known that needs to be known more, lest it possibly save other Resis woe: sometimes I've had inventory that seemed like it disappeared, but it didn't. I clicked the CLEAR CACHE button and it came back. This appears to speed up the process Jillian and Cid describe. This has happened to me on several occasions now.

Where is the option for "My inventory is such a disaster that half of it could go missing and I might not notice for weeks/months?"

Don't forget inventory disappeared and I fixed it myself by reloading all the textures because I couldn't wait for customer service to open.

From: Torley Torgeson I've had inventory that seemed like it disappeared, but it didn't. I clicked the CLEAR CACHE button and it came back. This has also happened to me and, per Torley's advice, clearing the cache did "recover" it. However, this says that there is some really obnoxious bug in the cache code which LL says is working just fine. For me, it has happened far more often that lost inventory stays lost. Another fun one is when I boxed up a build that I spent weeks on, and through some permission system bug, a box created by me, owned by me, containing objects created by me and owned by me cannot be opened. I solicited a Liaison with the power to open the box who agreed that it sure looked like my stuff but was unwilling to open it lest I actually get someone else's stuff. Dipshits.

The list of inventory items is stored in the cache folder although not in the main cache folder, pressing clear cache effectivaly just empies the folder along with the inventory cache, that actual file(s) can be identified by their ending .inv.gz
