Hi there ~ I need an opinion on something I can possibly do to fix a problem that seems to be increasing dramatically.

I am a business owner who receives 5-10 messages a day from people say they have purchased my product and the box is empty. That they see the landmark I placed in the box but not the actual product. I check my sales details to see what exactly was purchased then I will then go to the store - and ALWAYS - find the box has the item in it.

I (very nicely) explain to them sometimes sl has a bug to try to relog and then check your inventory for the item. They do and 7 times out of 10 they find it. I have 3-4 people a day that insist that they still do not have the item. I explain exactly how to unpack a box (some of the people IMing are new) and walk them through doing a search and give them the exact item name. This sometimes helps. Many times they insist that I am trying to rip them off and sell empty boxes - which I am defintiely not - they get irate with me. Alot of times I will just give them the item again - unboxed and they are happy - but its getting frustrating giving away items constantly.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

You could change to give contents rather then a copy of the box.
This way it will go straight in the invo in a nice neat little folder. :)

I actually had this problem with something I bought yesterday as well. Turned out the file would show up and all copyable items under the recent tab, but the non transfer item wouldnt. I went to my regular invo view and there it was.

It is a pain in the asset server, but for now try to go to give contents instead.

I know you Alyssa and you run a honest business.

I only use those rental box thingys lol. so i have not had to sell items, but I notice I have to sometimes BUY something vs PAY for something. Is there really a difference?

A well-written newbies guide to opening boxes delivered by notecard separate from any package would have helped me. :)

It is easy once you know how, but I had a terrible time figuring it out at first. My first box needing opening almost had me in tears of frustration. It should also explain how you cannot drop it on some land and give some suggestions of where to open it.

Sellling the contents rather then a copy of an object/box is a big improvement in that it puts the contents in a folder at the top level of they buyers inventory, and the folder is named the same as the vendor box that sold it. The folder also eliminates the need for the buyer to rez a box and unpack it.

I'd change your vendor machines. Not everyone waits long enough to get the item delivered before leaving/TPing/etc. And with lag it can take a long time. Once I had to wait 5 minutes for delivery. Needless to say I began having thoughts I was getting ripped off (tho not intentionally - the vendor/server were malfunctioningly ripping me off). But it came eventually. And people don't know of these kinds of things in SL so they jump go conclusions.

I'd seriously consider some other vendor if this is a regular occurance.

Copy-modify-no transfer product?

This way if they're on your sales record a replacement item is easily given with no fear of rip-off. The customer can resize and refit to taste without fear of breaking it. And no transfer makes even the idea of refunds impossible. Low maintenance vending.

You know, this happened to me the other day, a customer IMed me and said that the notecard and pose stand were in the box but not the actual items... and I figured maybe it was my fault, that maybe I had somehow forgotten to actually put the contents into the box...
I went out to check the shop where she'd purchased it and the box I had up contained all the stuff it was supposed to... so I apologized and gave her what she was missing, which seemed to make her happy enough, although I didn't really get a thank you or anything.

Through the whole thing, it occurred to me that maybe it's a new scam. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.. but I did get that sense.
