It turns out that your credit card information is still in their database!

I know someone who had cancelled her account months ago and just reset her password to find that even though her account is cancelled, it still shows her cc info is still on file and there is no way she can delete that info.

If your account is cancelled, wouldn't you think that LL would remove that information from their database?

Removing people's valuable personal information from the database is boring! Who wants to do that? And remember: with the "love machine," you only do the work you want to do.

lol Yeah I mean who wants to work at their job??

Anyway, this is just overall a let down for paid members and those who cancelled their accounts a long time ago. All of these 600,000+ residents probably are also cancelled accounts as well.

Imagine someone who stoped using Second Life years ago cancelled their account and then they discover their credit card was hacked but since they no longer use Second Life, they have no idea where it came from.

Now I almost feel stupid for paying for Second Life but I joined before the credit card verification was no longer necessary.

They hold avatar information at least partially in case people want to restore accounts after closing them. Don't see why they'd need to retain the credit card info.

Certainly one ought to be able to have credit card info removed, truly removed and unretrievable.

Yes they should have it removed if they are cancelling at least have that option. It's bad for those that pay for their accounts because if they don't like Second Life and they paid then they are screwed just for playing and paying.
