It crossed my mind, if I was called a "monkey" all the time I might not be a very happy worker. If I'm not a happy worker it's highly likely I'm not doing a good job  It maybe a traditional title but isnt "Grid Monkey" somewhat pejorative ? ( not to be discussed too seriously folks ! ) |

I've known a couple of grid monkies, they didn't seem to mind the title.
Mostly we just carefully cracked open the door and threw in raw meat. On holidays it would be mega bags of Doritos, gallon jugs of peanut butter and econo boxes of Twinkies....never any bananas though. Course, that's a completely different matter to ponder.

Gridmonkey has been used as a term for as long as I've been a pro-tech. Its simply a fun term for the poor sod who's stuck holding the "OH SHIT!" pager.
