*tiptoes through the TOS, not naming names or anything*

The following is stolen from the Merriam-Webster dictionary, but falls under fair use.

From: someone
Main Entry: slan·der
Pronunciation: 'slan-d&r
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): slan·dered; slan·der·ing /-d(&;-)ri[ng]/
: to utter slander against :

Slander accustions on hotline... anyone heard anyone vocally say anything?

From: someone
Main Entry: 1li·bel
Pronunciation: 'lI-b&l
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, written declaration, from Middle French, from Latin libellus, diminutive of liber book
2 a : a written or oral defamatory statement or representation that conveys an unjustly unfavorable impression b (1) : a statement or representation published without just cause and tending to expose another to public contempt (2) : defamation of a person by written or representational means (3) : the publication of blasphemous, treasonable, seditious, or obscene writings or pictures

Now, Libel is much more possible, but it does require proof that it is unjust, blasphemous, etc. Proof.

If you, too, would like to look up big words :) why not use http://m-w.com/

Sator,

I think you will find that the legal definition of slander is slightly wider than yours.

oh oh on and

1 : the utterance of false charges or misrepresentations which defame and damage another's reputation

You have to PROVE you have a good rep before actually claiming slander.
But hey,if you're a supporter of people who are immoral then more power to you!

oh oh here's a GOOD question that's true in the RW

From: someone
Can I sue someone who says or writes something defamatory about me?

In order to prove defamation, you have to be able to prove that what was said or written about you was false. If the information is true, or if you consented to publication of the material, you will not have a case. However, you may bring an defamatory action if the comments are so reprehensible and false that they effect your reputation in the community or cast aspersions on you.

I think it's safe to say that the person in question has already stated that what she had did was TRUE but as she says
From: Jamie Bergman
Just to set the record straight, it is not against the TOS to resell objects. I'm a capitalist, I bought an object at a lower price then I'm reselling it for. I can't be responsible for selling things for less than I paid. Sorry, thats rule #1 of capitalism.

Though you may frown upon it, its perfectly legal. What is illegal is to defame someone's good name and infer they are a fraud. Shame!

perfectly ILLEGAL .

thnx point made and won!

hey i'm sorry to hijack this thread, but on a totally unrelated topic:

does anyone know if a large number of complaint letters to a 3rd party object marketplace could successfully get a person removed as a merchant?

just curious. thanks!

Hmmm, given the spurious ownership of theoretical 3rd party object marketplace, I doubt it. Theoretical of course. /hijack hijack
