Am I the only one that's a little broke on SL or is money tight for a lot of you? I always have trouble getting even 150L from my job :D What do you do to earn some Lindens (besides owning companies, of course)?

Thanks guys! ;)

Hi there this is my story (so far) and my feelings about SL...

I have been totally broke many time sin SL.. waiting for the 500 a week...

I pay for a year as member of SL.. 72 USD - and have try ed to live on it 500 a week .. No chance... But now - read down...

I have newer been thinking of become an escort or other similar things as I don't believe in it and not in people that have clubs with such offers in,, The ones that Sell other people that way are disgusting and wrong..completely wrong..should be in jail AL of them...

I have several times putted in extra money from IRL... under 50 Euro so far.. since Feb this year...

I have builded.. most time for free or a change.. Some have payed me a fee.. and as I have a hard time to put a price on my skills.. ( I am told I am excellent in what i do many times.. but I cant charge... sad.-DD) I have designed, I have had 3 small stores. Now only on left... [EXAKT] STORE – AT: Doyle (101, 31) or read my profile..

One was taken down terrible fast - with a 24 hours in advance note...LEAVE! Shit happens with bad people in SL to- (was told its same person doing it in other places at the net, maybe rumors. maybe not)

But the last two months I have of some odd reason managed better.. prob as I have not that huge need to shop - as I have so much in inv that I can use it...(don't need new things as often) The ”base” things.. are in it..and some more. (shoes-))..

I don't sit on chairs.. I give a away positive points when I remember it to all nice people I meet in SL (They are more ones than the crooks I have meet)... I give away my own designed things as its fun to do it...and tell my friends to have a look if they need any..

The tier in Dreamland where I live are OK but sadly I am not allowed to have a shop in my house so I prob must leave my lovely smal-smal island.. and my - still blue - house and use the tier for a small shop instead... sob sob...

I enjoy SL a lot (Especially my friends and my lovely GF..) - and I compare it with as if not SL as a ”costs” I had had another costs for some kind of hobby... SL are no hobby for me but the SL regular fees I compare with a hobby fee...

I stay... and I have fun...

Tks AL friends that you are in SL and especially Deir..

The question asked revolves around "earning", that is an exchange of effort for services rendered or product(s) provided.. The response provided by Jillian apparently misses that point by suggesting that one purchase $L.... However, that is not "earning".

You have to earn money in 1st Life to buy $L in Second Life. Make sense to me. :)

Yes, you're quite right; thus the big grin icon.

I tend to forget how uptight people get about L$.

Yeah, I would love to buy some lindens with real money because they aren't expensive or anything, but I was wondering if there were other ways, like jobs, etc.. :)

Get good at building and textures and script, then if you see anything you like you can just make a copy :)
So far I have spent around 60 lindens total after 3 months... mainly as i spend most of my time learning to do the abouve stuff.

Another plan: make a hobo AV and a sign and try begging? Think I might do that as performance art?

I'm surprised no one has asked what on earth this is doing in the Gallery. :D

Nice observation, Beatfox!

Elle, you may find that if you have special skills, particularly quirkier, rarer ones, they have a place in SL to fill voids that haven't previously been addressed. A lot of new Resis jump for the "common" opportunities and that's great if you can achieve with them, but there are TONS of things out there being missed. Ask yourself what do you really enjoy, and look for those things in SL. After all, like offline, if you can make L$ doing something you love, all the better, right?

If you like travelling around the world, sometimes you may see a call for exploration services, usually some sort of data-collecting. Or proofreading things like notecards-as-manuals is something else I've done.

A lot will get done if you just get to know more and more Resis. The benefit is not only do you make new friends, you learn more about their interests and what they do in SL, and you can get new ideas from that, or even be motivated to seek out things on your own.

BTW, about the "hobo", Orhalla Zander would prolly be a standout example of that. I wouldn't hesitate to ask him for lessons. :)
