Hello SL World.

I just joined SL this weekend and wanted to introduce myself. I am fleeing from the inept development team over at Star Wars Galaxies. In SWG, I ran my server's largest corporation focusing on player created content. I ran a very successful party series called Groovefest and branched out into running races, private parties and weddings, and at my peak, had my own town, full time staff of five players, and security force.

After over two years, I got bored. I had done just about everything I set out to do in-game. I took nine months off while starting up a business in RL and just recently tried to get interested in playing again. My return coincided with the announcement of a total rehaul of the game, dumbing it down to get it ready to play on the PS3. Most of my friends are leaving and from the reports I've read describing the new system on the test center, it looks like the game is going to suck, at least compared to what it used to be.

I had tried SL out six months or so ago, but didn't really spend any time getting into it. I re-activated my account this past Friday and clicked with how friggin' cool this game is. I would even hesitate to call it a game. Excuse my nooby excitement, but coming from the constrained world of SWG, the power we are all given here blows my mind.

So hello everyone. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and to all the nights I stay up too late in-game.

Welcome aboard Keltrien! :) Sounds like you were made for SL and vice versa. Always great to see new people getting excited about the possibilities.

Like, welcome!!!

We are in the same boat!

Okay, well, my first ever game was TSO. I was like, such a newbie hehe. However, I did make a bit of a bang. I joined Evangeline in her scam house, and then created my own, which I had for a little bit and at one point beat FMFN for about a month, but then moved to Blazing Falls for a new start. I was known as Allia Chantal, Debra Messing, and other assorted identities, like Zsusanna Budapest.

Around then, TSO went into a decline, and I joined The Alphaville Herald VIPs to Second Life. I didn't quite like SL so much then, but I came to. I am sorry for my timeline, but its all foggy. Ah! I was then banned, for telling a guy who was saying sexual things to me to fuck off or something. In anycase then I joined FFXI. Three totally unlike games. I had a fun time but eventually ended it.

Then I joined World Of Warcraft. However, before this, I created my incarnate of Yuki Callahan. My first 'real' Second Life experience. I didn't do much, Sl, to me, wasn't quite as fun as it is now. Mainly I hung out with the Space Pirate Armada and shot people with my trade mark Dragoons. Yeah. OH and then I banned myself by shouting profanity in the sandbox. Then I joined WoW. Fun times, but I quit.

Then I joined SWG. NOT fun. Lag was horrible. I hated it. I came post CU. In anycase, I came here. Now, I am a dancer and hostess, a model, and a fashion reporter :) I am all about clothes hehe.

In Second Life, anything can happen.

So welcome to Second Life!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)! Give me an IM sometime, we can reminisce of SWG and you can meet some cool people, like my girl Scarlet and Tomo, and Miracle, and Mason, and our Irish Slave, Richie.

Cya love,

-Ayame Sapeur

Good to hear, Kelt! With all the grid problems lately, it's heartening to hear someone still go "COOL!" every so often. :)

one noob to another, welcome aboard. Yeh, the performance isn't the best right now, but everybody keeps sayin' "stick with it, it'll get better". I was in SWG for about a minute and a half. Kept gettin' ganked by teenyboppers, so left.

I still play WoW, but SL's takin' a LOT of my time lately.

Welcome to SL, Keltrien.

Give me a shout in-world this evening and I will be happy to show you some cool places in SL...

The easiest way to find me is to click the "Find" button on the bottom, selec tthe "People" tab, and type my name in Search. When it pulls me up, you can IM me from there...

I will be happy to talk you through some of the bewilderment, since I am fairly new here too, and remember what it was like when I first got here. Also, the Newcomer's area is sometimes a pretty laggy place to be... if that is the case, let me know and I will TP you to Cass (My home-spot). We almost never have any serious lag...

This is a wondrous place. Give it time and be patient.
Some of the kindest and most helpful people can be found in SL.
Some of the most amazing sights to be seen are in SL.
Some of the most fun you can have with your clothes on is in SL...
Same goes for without yer clothes if yer into that... (Not my juice, but hey! Whatever.)

Most importantly, SL can be anything you want it to be.
It can be a game, a social club, a business platform...
SOme people even make their livings in here.

I look forward to meeting you in person inside...

I just left SWG myself (actually, my whole group left for EVE). We had a Metropolis on Lok (Tempest Server) and it was fun giving away my barcs on my last day. I enjoyed being a crafter in SWG, but the ability to build anything I wanted, instead of predetermined items, kept me coming back to SL.

You can certainly provide all of the same services you did in SWG, and so much more. If you haven't done so already, try island hopping between the privately owned simulators (those are the ones not attached to the mainland on your world map.) You will see some excellent large scale enterprises that should get you even more excited about SL (if that is possible!) Not to discount the mainland, of course, but with the last few versions, it is a little frustrating to travel through. And, when you are done exploring, feel free to drop by Parrot Island for a relaxing walk on the beach and a rest by the waterfalls.

If you ever have any questions, please ask. Welcome!

Thanks everyone! I'll get in touch with the nice people who offered help, I have some questions about the community and economy that I'm sure you vets will have no problem answering. I'll be lurking around the boards, but as I get a feel for the flow of things, you'll start hearing from me more.

SWG? So thats where they moved all those inept developers that killed EQ to. Must have been tha same team that headed up EQ's Gates of Discord expansion, and the DirectX9 upgrade. :D
