I have many times warned and many times told lindens.

Having a game like this, a virtual simulation with real life money changing hands its not everquest or Anarchy online where you get some farmers.

THIS game is publicised in the business weeklies, people like **** **** take great relish in spouting her mouth about how much money she makes and how good SL is.

RL advertising companies are setting up shop here

And real life criminals are seeing the possibility..

While most of us are good people in this for comunity and fun, there is some in it for cons, money, information and destruction.

Its lindens own fault this world has all of the possibilities of a normal online game + Real life money.

And remember organised crime like yakuza and the Mafia cartel in the late 90's realised it was cheaper and less risky to sell pirated games and films than coke, one gets you the DEA the other gets you FAST (federation against copyright theft) and more and more we see them moving into online game worlds where laws and protection are less than the real world

TIme and again we said that how could we trust lindens with our details when they can never get a patch right, but all the linden fans rushed to there aid stating oh its secure they have told us so.

And then the added the nice box in sl so everyone of a criminal mind knows if you have payment details on file so whether or not your worth hacking

Fact if someone has your password they can syphon money from your bank account, credit card via lindex without reinputing any card details or security check.

Fact the peopel that got in may be harmless BUT more likely they were corelating and downloading peoples home addresses and emails etc for identity theft or worse, read as stalking certain rich players.

Woopy doo they can't get our credit card details, but how many of us have our paypal address on file.

And then to rub insult into injury a classic no brainer, oh yes anyone of you who forgot your security word after all its only been 2-3 years, wait till monday we are going home bye :/

Now lindens you could have turned this into a PR and community wonderful thing with the following statement
Hi yes we screwed up and for once we aint hiding behind our TOS, if you can't get into your account and your secret word is forgotten me and all the people at lindens are staying here all weekend if we haveto on the phones.

Can you imagine how much kudos that would have developed

But I guess I live in a happy fluff place and forgot I am in SL now.

This is why I made sure my credit card number got changed the day after I had SL authorise the payment. LL has no business advertising any details of any transaction with them, or even advertising that there was a transaction.

ETA: And people said I was being alarmist for objecting to payment status being publicly visible at the time. Still so sure?
