*start rant* I am sitting here at work and ready to pull my hair out, grab a projectile weapon, and go postal on fellow employees. Why? Because all and all I can't make any L$ in SL and enjoy my Second Life. I have all these neat ideas and creative examples of things all around me and inside my head but lack the skill to do any of it. It's not a matter of try and you will secceed for me cause franklyI have treid fro 10 years now on such things and have failed. Sadly this leaves me with on alternitive. Take a job in my second life as well. This is fine except sadly I came here to relax and not work. I've even tried scripting and sadly this is a failure. I have scripting friends but they are busy with huge projects right now and frankly don't need me hounding them every two minutes. Also reading something like the Wikki does me no good, not one bit. I hear "Use the wikki" and I want to do bad things to male parts and staple them to thier ankles. My "drawing" experience is even worse. So far I have managed to to draw stick figures and dungeon maps on grid paper...that's the extent of my drawing. Event hosting sounds nice but frankly I have a temper issue (anyone that knows me hush). I don't want to be the worlds best or be famous. If I wanted that I could have stayed elsewhere. I just want to be able to enjoy my Second Life and not spend my time in game doing what I get paid for 8 hours of the day and uses up 11 hours of my day if not more. Ok sorry say what you want but if not for the few great people I have met I would have just thrown this away long ago. *end rant*

Love me or hate me I had to get that off my chest. Now comment, discuss, and flame away.:p

Probably your best bet if you want to spend leisure money in SL but would prefer not to work here would be to do whatever it is you do best in the physical world and exchange some of the resulting money for L$.

I cannot love you--I do not know you.
I do not hate you -- Same reason.

I respect you as a Human Being, though, and as such, I can empathize your pain.

I can only offer this...

What do you LIKE to do?
What do you enjoy about SL?

Seriously...
This is not a Business sim unless you want it to be.
And there are plenty of things to do here that don't involve L$.

So the question stands... what do you like to do?

I know of oodles of folks on basic accounts who simply do not participate to any significant degree in the economic side of SL. They don't have jobs, they don't make things for sale, they don't leach money balls/camp seats, and they don't spend a dime on LindeX.

They fly and drive demos, they socialize, they hang out in sandboxes and build toys for themselves, they talk politics and philosophy and thier favorite TV program, they play mah-jong, they explore, they kill one another in the combat sims...

One of them goes about painting things garish but oddly lovely shades of pinkish-red and green... ;)

Sounds to me more like a case of not knowing where you fit in rather than wondering where the next $ will come from. The good thing with SL is you don't have to fit in anywhere.

If I am way off, see post above :D

Thank you for the replies and yes I can buy L$ and I have but after a while I still find myself right back where I started. Wishing I had more L$ to enjoy certain things (as Jillian pointed out not all things cost L$) and having the ideas I am sure can be made but lack the skill and doubtfully ever will to any large degree. It's the old idea of the muse. Problem is noone pays L$ for ideas. That's probably where my nitch is...in thinking. I think, I test, I brake, and I talk.

Things I have thought up of in a general idea:
New furniture that uses poser heavily. (currently one or two out there already made and another person is in development)
New clothings based on adult novels that I have not seen here in SL dispite references to it. (only one reference to each of these in game and very much low cost due to what they are and/or not for sale as I can see)
Hud system that would allow for personal style and uniquness that even once made others could make money from.
New adult toys for the more extreme lifestylers.

I've actually been spending most of my talent helping out a dear man as he scripts his game and reporting any bugs I find with it.
