Need something to do while the grid is down?

Spend some time learning the history of SL!

Well, normally I'd say shop the classifieds, but with the exception of the new products they will soon not exist...so beats me what we should do!

Yeah, I like history too, and trust me, that ain't it.

You want to study something useful and accurate, go read the scripting tips / building / texture forums here.

That's a little harsh. Sometimes I like reading for fun.

OMG BLAZE YOU'RE RIGHT

From: horrible sycophantic website

Did you know...

... Second Life was originaly named LindenWorld. The name was changed before Beta testing to give a more descriptive and creative feel. See Linden World for more details. ... A day in Second Life is 4 hours long, with 3 hours of daytime and 1 hour of night. Many other quirks of the sun and moon: The sun orbits the SL world and travels faster during night, the moon is always full, there will not be an eclipse for many many Earth years, a year in SL is 10 days long. For more detailed information see LSL Wiki: llGetSunDirection (http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=llGetSunDirection)

... The Sun and/or Moon are often given custom textures for U.S. Holidays. Examples of such are the sun being replaced with a heart and the moon with a silhouette of a couple kissing for Valentine's Day. See more information on the Holiday Suns and Moons page.

Its SO CLEAR to me now

Yeah, something fun would be nice. I have read a LOT since joining but as far as scripting and building and other tech stuff it might as well be written in a foreign language. I do better learning by being shown. Doesn't mean I'm not trying my hand at these things.. it's just going to be a slow process for me, things get lost going from reading words to actually applying. Practice makes perfect though and I will keep practicing.

syc·o·phant ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sk-fnt, sk-)
n.
A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.

Just in case I am not the only one who didn't know.

Ooh did I win any favors, oh wait I didn't flatter anyone. Oooh blake, you are so smart. There!

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?
Yes, it's true, I have a blog now!

Well, I guess I find the concept of the history wiki harsh.

All the people who make and read it are wonderful, god fearing individuals who I simply can not say enough great things about, but I really hate the history wiki.

And as we all know, blaze likes to avoid harshness in any form. It's diametrically opposed to everything he believes.

Another surprise, 'cuz blaze usually adores everything related to Second Life. "Accentuate the positive," that's his motto.
