Looking for opinions / what should we do kind of feed back.
My friend and I have been renting a house in Revolution Paradice at 600 a week and were paid up 3 weeks, 3 days in advance.
The owner, who's name I won't mention - if you want to know you can find out easily enough by going there and checking - sold the land and gave her renters two days notice to get out.
I do not argue that she doesn't have the right to sell the land. She does, how she went about it demonstrates what kind of worthless low life scum sucking person she is but thats her business and I have learned a hard lesson about business on SL.
What I have issue with is that she refuses to refund the full amount of money paid in advance to her for the rent. We are not moving because we want to, we are being thrown out with little notice. If you are paid say 4 weeks in advance - she might refund 2 weeks leaving you out $1200 through not fault of your own.
Do we have any recourse? Can the owners be reported for theft? Is there a SL version of the better business bureau? What do you who are far more experianced than I in SL life suggest?
The Money isn't a big deal, its more the thought that this person can do this again and again to people without fear of any repercussions.

From: Katrin Gisaku NOBODY has a sugestion?! <lol> thanks anyway I addressed this in another thread. Use the web services like SL Exchange instead of renting inside SL from a fly-by-nighter.

thanks anyway The situation sucks but there is not much you can do except post the scammer's name in the Forums at SLUniverse.com. SL won't do anything to help you, they dont get involved in business disputes between people. There is no other police or Better Business Bureau in SL with any power. The hard lesson learned here is do not pay to far in advance when doing business with people you don't know. Buyer beware!

No, there isn't anything you can do, unfortunately, except rent from somebody else or buy your own land.
I'm about to start renting some land. I just aquired 512sq and will be buying another 512sq of a friend to make it 1024sq...
You Just need to know who to trust, and figuring out if you can trust somebody is hard. When you meet somebody new, talk to them a bit first before Jumping in and renting their land. Though I seriously donot see how somebody can scam people like this, it's terrible. I wouldn't do it in my FirstLife and I'm not going to do it in my Second one either.

This is why I'm so glad to have Desmond Shang as a landlord.
