Yesterday I came on line to discover that my sim, Meins, had been rolled back a week, taking with it about $L6000 worht of items that I had set out the day before, as well as hours and hours of work. These items are not in my inventory, not in my lost and found, they are simply *gone*.
According to my neighbor, Live Help denied that this roll-back was even possible. We've both posted questions about it on Linden answers, but so far there hasn't been a response.
Normally I'd wait a bit longer, but I feel that other people should know about this bug in order to protect themselves, before it happens to them.

Ask concierge? Consider the possibility that a rogue admin used the 'delete' command to purge the items.

From: Angel Fluffy Ask concierge? Consider the possibility that a rogue admin used the 'delete' command to purge the items. I don't have a full sim or half a sim worth of tier myself. The sim in question was Meins, and esentially, the entire sim was set back to the sate it was in the week before. Any changes that had been made in that week, and stuff that had been set out in that week, it was all gone. According to another post on the forums, this has happened elsewhere as well. I just hope that the Lindens take this seriously and *do* something to keep it happening again. As it is, I was just talking to my gf inworld and told her about this, and about the forum closing, and she promptly cleared her land and put it up for sale. She's been here for over a year and is a first rate builder, but what is going on reminds her far too much of what she's seen from SOE for her to want to risk her money by continuing to keep assets like land in SL. Again, I hope that LL takes this seriously. If this becomes more frequent, it *will* cost them subscribers.

Get the sim owner, who is probably very mad about this, to contact the concierge about it? If you can't get hold of the sim owner, or it's a mainland sim, then use SL Answers?

I have been noticing a lot of short rollbacks in my private sim, Temenos over the last week. The sim will go offline for a minute and when you come back you have lost a good 15min or more...sometimes up to an hour of time. This has happened multiple times in one day on occassion and seems to be becoming more frequent.
This is very troubling to say the least and potentially could be disasterous if it gets worse.

I encountered a similar 10-15 minute rollback that destroyed a 12K item I had just placed. It didnt go back to lost and found or to deleted items just disappeared. i filed a report but to this day have had no reply from LL.

We own land in multiple sims and have seen this as well. Rollbacks of up to an hour now seem to be all too commonplace (and a friend lost the entire -copy contents of her house a week or two ago), but the one that Jack and the rest of us experienced in Meins appears to have gone back about a week. The group I am in got very lucky on the timing for several thousand $L of merchandise, which must have been placed just prior to the rollback point. I did lose several days worth of building.

Hmm...still no reply to three different questions about this in Second Life Answers.
This sucks. I'm paying $100 a month on tier, and I'm afraid to build or to put out items I've bought, in case they wind up vanishing on me again.
I am certianly not about to keep paying tier if this issue isn't adressed.

I am certianly not about to keep paying tier if this issue isn't adressed. I have not been in your situation as of yet, but I am sure I would be feeling just as sick about it. Hopefully there will be assistance offered for the loss of products. I know that when there was a rollback of a sim, I lost land that I bought very cheap from a friend. It ended up going to a land swooper when SL went back up. I got the money back but I lost the land. My use of the land is really my loss. and unfortunately, SL never responded to my issue. :/ EDIT: forgot why I posted in the first place.lol. I was going to say that I have tier fees that are at 195 a month and certainly would reconsider if I came back to my mall and saw my new builds, stores and fixes gone. Happening once is enough. The only suggestion I can come up with is one I learned the hard way years ago: make backups and then backups of your backups. I know this doesn't help with lost no-copy items but it should work for just about everything else. Cordova's been crashing alot lately and I've seen the rollbacks happen there as well. Making incremental backups after each round of building / editing / texturing has certainly saved me from losing work.

I don't think it's something the Lindens even like doing because of the loss of content. A concierge is willing to do it if it's a private island and the owner specifically requests one. But rollbacks on the mainland in sims where several people own plots in the sim (as opposed to only one owner for the whole sim) are a completely different situation. Are you sure it was a rollback and not just some other server funkiness happening?

/139/8e/131428/1.html#post1243160It wasn't exactly a rollback. They did revert the sim though.

There have been some nasty island sim stability issues on Sunday. My sim was crashing wildly on Sunday. I discovered that simply going into Estate Tools and attempting to access Top Colliders or Top Scripts (which I tried in case it was a related problem) was sufficient to cause an instant crash. On report I was told that islands had been crashing all over for no known reason all day, I then crashed the sim several times by this method and reported a reproducible problem. Then the story changed 'you can crash a sim by using the debug controls in a heavily loaded sim' - i.e. it's all your fault. Well the sim had 4 AVs in it, less than 2000 prims used, and 851 scripts with a <10ms script time! 'heavily loaded' my ass! Looks like the grid is getting cranky again folks

RollBack?
08-22-2006 13:16
I was on a sim where we put out 2 new buildings, the next day the sim was acting a bit funny so using estate tools we did a restart of the sim, when the sim came back online the 2 houses we put back the night before and a few other items where gone. The items where all copy so we just put out new ones so maybe this is what happend to you. We sent a report into LL but have not heard anything back nor do we expect do I hate to say.
