Yep. We still have advanced lighting and occlusion culling (sounds so dirty). It will still be graphical kick in the ass. How are you, the average user, planning to handle this next upgrade?

I have been studying the advanced lighting part closely - as a part of my EXAKT store are full of designed lamps/light.
I will redo some of the older ones and take some few out of the assortment. /Tina _____________________

I have an ATI Radeon 9200 128mb card and I am a bit worried how it will go for me. I don't have too many issues with everything turned down and I have never seen the joys of ripple water but I am not greedy, I just hope there isn't a noticeable decrease in my experience. I have never been to the preview grid as I leave that up to more technically inclined people to test, plus it's not the same environment as the main grid with all the people on it. I personally think it shouldn't be released for awhile longer as I am hearing alot of issues with it from people who have gone to the preview grid. For me it will be a wait and see game.

I suspect that it it isn't vastly improved from what's on the preview grid right now, I'll be looking for another game.

My only preperation for 1.10 is to not directly insult any Lindens, since I want to be around for 1.10, instead of having my account suspended. Wha? Are you saying I'm taking jabs at the Lindens? No! I love them! I'd hug them if I could, but we're still working out the mechanics of it. |

I've stowed my traytable & returned my seat to the upright position.
Excuse me while I tamper with the smoke detector... _____________________

I'm not too worried, as the graphics card in my system (a Radeon X1600 Pro with 512 Mb RAM) ought to be able to handle it. I did, however, upgrade my Catalyst drivers to 6.4 last night (from 6.2, which is what came with the card), as LL strongly recommended.
(When I bought that card as part of my pre-SL system upgrade, I thought it would be "massive overkill." Perhaps I was merely prescient.) |

How about downloading the preview next time and seeing how it effects you BEFORE it comes out? That way you can optimize your settings in advance.
I thought my Radion would be smoking, but it doesn't smoke any worse than it did before local lighting and flexible objects. Oh, your survey is biased, so I can not vote having experienced the preview and coming to the conclusion that it didn't cause any problems I didn't have before. |

Well, I have a new laptop with an nVidia 7900 GTX on pre-order, just coincidentally. (My old laptop with an nVidia 6800 fried.
) So I guess I'll be all set either way._____________________

I'm going with the old-school 'Duck and Cover,' if my comp decides to bite it. *sigh* I'll be sure to buy it a nice burial spot, right next to my old toaster oven!
That and I am working on an SL bomb shelter for when the big one hits! _____________________
