Hey Ive been working (standing around breaking stuff) with Siggy on his Swimmer, and it rocks, but this isn't an Advertisment, Im starting a swim journal of cool water themed builds, I'll be updating here as often as I have time to, but please feel free to post some of your own stuff here, as long as it's water themed kicking it off is a trip to some cave diving in RuaWonderful underwater build! As I said before, I'd like to see a lot more snaps and landmarks posted here with what people have done in SL with their water themed builds, boating, tubing, swimming around, etc =]

I don't have Siggy's cool swimming technology, but I highly recommend anything he does. I should get one since I live underwater! Here I am, with my guard squid, Grabby, in my latest AV I've been working on. No, I'm not hijacking the thread to plug it because it's far from done and I'll probably drop it to work on something else tonight! I have the attention span of a plastic spoon.

First time I visited Lash Xevious's home, I was like, "Well, I've seen a lot of skyboxes in SL... where are all the waterboxes?" And it was a blast to see you swimming through the air, Ferran.

Underwater land is seriously underrated. you can do much cool stuff with it. I am still trying to find the time to build a reef in Vega and Rigel

From: Torley Torgeson First time I visited Lash Xevious's home, I was like, "Well, I've seen a lot of skyboxes in SL... where are all the waterboxes?" I've got a waterbox, but it's not officially underwater. I sunk part of my my land 21 meters and put up the Wright house in there, and a big obvious "blue lagoon" over it. that way I don't have to waste any of my 4096 on a house, AND I can use my skybox space for my space station. But my house is not an "underwater house". Heck, it's got its own pool of water, and a barbecue, so according to the rules of cartoon physics the fact that it's below llWater() is irrelevant. But I guess that's OK, very few skyboxes make any reference to the fact that they're actually in the sky. Though I like the one I saw that's got the underside textured like it was actually ripped from the ground, and big spinning rocks with mystical crystals and stuff floating about it...

Oooh, I LOVE Rua. And Wynx, that mermaid ... 0.0 *licks* I've acquired most of the water surrounding my land in Butsu (Torley, you still remember my build long ago! *beams* Thankies). And my customers are always perplexed that I want them to wade in the water to shop. Don't they understand I want them wet and cool before I stick them in the freezer?! Ahem, I mean ... it gets hot being out in the sun all day. Is that underwater sim by Tya Fallingbridge still open? Atlantis I think was it's name. The new continent back in the day was a pleasure to wade in. Wow, can't think of much from the top of my head. We need more watah.

I can't say enough good things about the swimming attachment - it is one of those rare items in SL that will change how people use SL. While there have been rudimentary swimming attempts so far, nothing comes close to this. I have been swimming all over SL today - so much for P2P lol. I went to check out the remains of the reef in Vari:

Glad it went over so well - its something I've thought about for a long time and experimented with for a while too. Remember you can IM me with suggestions etc as well, I'm very open to new ideas - when your making things I guess your looking for what you think is cool, once its handed over to the world it's good to know what they think is cool too Thanks for the kind words.

Are we seeing the beginning of the fall of SL civilization? Do we shed clothes and tools and return back to the ocean?

My neighbours and I are trying it out right now and we both said the same thing at the same time. BACK STROKE! That would be awesome

I didn't know so many people spent time under water. Hmm. I suppose it would be grieving if I put my own "freeze/grab avatar" script in some bait, and went fishing. Would I need a Large-Game hunting license and fishing license if I pulled a big furry out of the water? No I wouldn't do that on purpose. But it would be funny if I threw a line out and accidently caught a rabbit. (oh that would be a small-game license wouldn't it.) Maybe that'll finally interest my friends to try SL. "I went fishing and caught a furry wabbit. Then he shot me with LoKi's M4A1" They would just have to try it In a (What The ____?!) kinda way.

Lost Continent of Atlantis
12-16-2005 01:44
What about ... an entire sim underwater, with valleys and mountains and grottos, and weed strewn ruins ... populated by mermaids and mermen ... the Lost Continent of Atlantis? Maybe one rock above water where the mermaids could loll and lure sailors to their doom beneath the briney deep?
