Alts are people too. I have no problem with people that wanna have 50 alts, in fact that's great! However I would sincerely hope that MOST people would realize that just because you have a new avatar that its really innappropriate to go around raiding money trees and exhausting the time of people that do things to help genuine newbies.
I have for , for over 7 months now, been running a free hair program for new people in their first 14 days of SL. I realize that many of the people I have been helping with new hair are , in fact , alts as well .. and I have really been okay with that .. since theres no real way to tell and I have just been treating every new hair voucher as if it was coming from a genuine noob. Even if they are their first day and already have a "master" a pic on their sl with them in an expensive skin and other prim hair and belonging to several groups. Sure this person might have learned all this in their first hour of sl .. but I doubt it.
Recently , in the last few days, I've went from getting 5-10 vouchers a day to 30-40. Thats quite a difference and I dont think its crazy to think it has something to do with everyone running out for extra accounts. My point here is , its exhausting and for the firs time since I've started the program I have felt like giving it up .
It was my goal to help genuine noobies get out of their avatar appearance-made hair and have the opportunity to pick out a hair of their own .. that reflects their personal style rather than just be stuck with some hand me down that they dont even like. When I started the game I ran around in that icky fringed noob hair for like 3 weeks so when I had the opportunity to help others I wanted to take it.
Now while its no skin off my nose whether the new hair goes to a genuine noob or an alt.. the time it takes for the process of this is now become a full time job for me and I am having to think about revamping the whole program or ending it all together because I just cant spend my entire day passing out hair to alts.
I am hoping that this trend will die down and that people that are doing this will realize that they are making people tired, and possibly ending programs that would help actual new people. I realize this is quite a long rant but am curious to know if others that sponser helpful things for new players are feeling a pinch from the sudden influx of alt accounts?
