From: Jesse Linden here will be an optional (but highly recommended!) client software update available for download on Wednesday. The release notes are as follows: * Inventory filter tabs - there are now two views into the inventory, "All Items", and "Recent Items". "All Items" is the current default view and "Recent Items" contains all items received since last logoff (the intent here is to also capture items received while not logged on). * Sort by date now sorts folders by date also. Folders with the most recent items should float to the top when sorting by date. * The older functionality of sorting a folder by name and the contents by date has been retained by selecting "Folders Always by Name" * Additionally, with the introduction of the tab panels we allow for each panel to have it's own inventory filter. Switching tabs switches which inventory filter is in use. * These filters now also include the options to sort for inventory last recieved in hours/days There is NO scheduled downtime for this release Thanks, - Jesse Linden Hooray. We are saved!

This will make organizing my inventory sooo much easier! The other day I was thinking, if I could only sort by date...
Two thumbs up!

Two thumbs up! You've always been able to sort by date.

The folders thing may be more of a newbie problem, although it would apply to anyone going on a shopping spree. When I grab a bunch of freebies, they are scattered all over my inventory by name in their own folders. So when I go back to my inventory to check them out, I have to find them all, and I already have multiple folders according to catagory, and they are interdispersed with them. Now I can bring them all up to the top and go through them easily.
All the other stuff, the tabs and "all recent" filters are great for that, too.

I'll appreciate the new inventory features, but I would appreciate it a lot more if the inventory would just index correctly when I log on! As it is now, it doesn't even try to index until I try to find something, then sits there forever, searching the list. And until it indexes, terrain textures and a lot of oter textures are missing. And don't even get me started on texture caching still being broken beyond usability...

Texture caching was broke sometime in late 1.6/early 1.7, methinks, and never worked quite right since. This needs fixed, yesterday. Lets make the cache setting larger than 1 gig while we're at it.

I love these new features, especially the Recent Items tab. It may sound silly, but I think this will increase commerce here in SL. I am planning to go on a shopping spree tonight just to test this new feature. Anything that makes shopping more enjoyable will increase the amount of time people spend spending. If only Linden Lab would implement inventory shortcuts, and have the "create outfit" button build a folder of shortcuts (so I can quickly try on a newly purchased outfit and the revert back to what I was wearing beforehand) I think I would do nothing but shop and forget out my own store entirely.

The new features may be nice...

but what I'm really hoping for is client stability! Looks like there is some hope anyway; the 1.10.2 preview has been much more stable for me than the main grid.

eh.. Another shiny thing I have to use.
UPDATE: And i hate it...
1.) Anytime my inventory loads EVERY folder opens and i have to wait for the whole thing to load before i can close them 2.) I crash a lot when doing things in my inventory. 3.) Ive reported about 7 bugs.
This is a feature that was just thrown upon us out of the blue without any testing. Please either fix what you broke or change it back.
