The gray loading textures might be a good source of income for Linden Research. Describing my reaction to seeing the gray collision sprites AGAIN would require the use of language that would cause my account to be closed, hence generating the need for an alternate account to express my views of the gray loading texture in a properly emphatic and colorful manner.

Yes, because half-transparent nebulous blobs of pixels are so much better.

Quite right. Opaque gray shapes with white outlines filling 90 percent of the screen do look much worse than soft gray semitransparent shapes. Totally transparent looks even better. Of course, having the textures load a little faster wouldn't hurt either.

I wonder if there is a technical problem such as a flaw in the caching code, or something more localized like a bad router somewhere along the path that is causing the new opaque loading texture to stay visible longer and in more cases.

I never used to see anything but the collison sprites when I collided, I didn't see a gray semi-alpha blur at all. Now I do, and I see it over and over in one session, in just a matter of minutes.
