Not really a big myspace junkie, but the paralells are abound. Instead of a home page, you get a parcel where you can share your music and your pictures. You can dress it up and share it with your friends, and really, the only difference is that you have this programmable shared virtual space.

Except of course that Second Life predates MySpace by a few years, if memory serves. There are a large number of differences between the two platforms... If it weren't closing in on my bedtime, I'd ennumerate them for you. But then, I'm sure the rest of the forum brigade will do that in my absence, so I needn't trouble myself.

Steady on, I know that there are some annoying teenagers in SL but it's not quite to MySpace levels yet....

Well... I don't recall ever having sex on myspace, or spending money on myspace, and I really don't remember making money there. I have yet to get a im in sl from some annoying person I went to high school with who seems to think we were friends at some time, and need to "catch up". I don't share so much of my rl here in my fantasy world, Like I do on myspace. I do use passwords to sign into both so you got me there.......

Possibly, Anna. Exept the economics of SecondLife tend to be a bit restrictive in what you can do (ie: how much 'land' you can afford to buy and maintain). From that POV MySpace is far more egalitarian. Yes, I know it costs money to run the servers, but you can never have too many prims or sims.

One difference comes to mind.
My Space is like a huge forum where you can post thoughts and talk back and forth with friends and strangers and learn from it. SL is doing away with the forum sections that allow you to do this. Very different indeed. ![]() _____________________

There is a site at kaneva.com that is trying to be both myspace and sl. The 3D part is in private beta, supposedly. You increase your chance of getting in the beta testing of the 3D part by participating in the 2D part. There's a video of the 3D world-to-be.
