Do I really need to be LL certified?

To teach a class at a private area? I mean.. whoopie doo.. $500.. and it's gonna take 3-5 weeks to hear back from them? Just so I can have another group to join and title over my head? I think I'd rather just teach the class then have to worry about waiting so long..

As for the class.. "Welcome.. so now what?" the very basics of SL.. how to keep your shape, how to get it back after you bought a box. How to get the box off your head, how to open said box. ya know.. I'd like suggestions here on stuff you needed to know your first day in SL.

You DO NOT have to be ceritfied to tell a newbie "How to remove box from head". All you have to do is list an event and be there at that time, or hang out at the various info-hubs/welcome areas.

You don't have to be certified to teach. You have to be certified if you want to get cash from LL for it.

I give people scripting advice constantly and I'm not certified.

I am not gorean, furry or age player.. though I recently made a Red Fraggle AV... does that make me a Muppet? Or a Furry Age player? Or am I Gorg?

and LL certified to teach.. at any place, or just Linden approved places.. like.. if I wanted to teach a class at my store.. do I need to be certified for that?

Lost: I am constantly at NCI telling newbies things.. I'd like to have a class, so I can tell all of them at once! :} Or maybe some hot keys.. like.. F3 gives them instructions on finding their lost shape.. and F6 tells you how to get the box off your head. I'm always helping newbies at NCI... I've even filled in for a teacher for a class.. I'm just wondering if to have my VERY OWN Class.. I need to be stamped with the Linden approval before I give out notecards, and put on my sexy teacher AV and start smacking knuckles with rulers.. Just to clear this up.. I'd probably be teaching this at NCI.. WITH NCI group approval first.. of course.. if they say I need the all mighty Linden stamp.. I'll get it.. even if I have to wait til Doomsday to get it.. til then.. I shall deal with boxes on heads and lost shapes on a comfortable one on one basis.. typing "Drag box to the ground, right click on box, click open, click copy to inventory" over and over and over...

right - what we're saying is you can have a class right now, post it in teh event calendar, teach whatever you want, have your own notecards, do whatever you like. The CERTIFIED means LL will pay you $L500 for the class if it fits within that criteria.

I hope the hell that certified teacher isn't teaching CS/TOS, because he nearly discouraged you from doing a nice thing by being 100% wrong.

I think the paid classes are ment for real-world instructors who wish to teach real-life stuff using SL.

If your going to teach about SL stuff within SL, you don't need to pay then $500. Just go ahead and do it!.

Also you might want want to look up the Instructor, Mentor and Greeter programs, which are in essense what you like doing there.

Ok.. so I can teach my class.. yay! Any ideas on what I should put in my class? What kind of things did you need to know your first couple days of SL? Other than get the box off your head! And Nudity isn't allowed in PG sims.. :}

I think it's always good to collect a few boxes of clothing and stuff, organize them and hand out to newbies.

And most importantly, it's good to teach people right off how to use, maintain and organize inventory. Without that I'd probably still be lost.

I gave up teaching Linden sponsored classes when the old David refused to let me "officially" teach terraforming on Jarod's 16ksm in Teal rather than a small editable corner of Ahern. I understand that you can teach sponsored classes anywhere now though.

Of course you can't terraform now anyway in Your World Your Imagination.

That's nonsense. Anyone can teach anything they want.

All the Linden Instructor certification does is let you get paid 500L per class (assuming the class has been approved and has at least five students).

Rowan--if this is the class you were considering doing at NCI, you don't have to be LL certified. I just encorage all the instructors at NCI to do so, so that they can get the 500L$ per class grant from Linden Labs. If that's not important to you, teach away!
