If you want to play SL, avoid ATI at all costs.

The heck with a graphics card; I want a whole new computer. The one I have now has crashed its harddrive repeatedly the last few months. It makes it really difficult to layout the newspaper when you keep losing the majority of your work

Ditto, though "great" isn't the word I would use when describing SL in any respect.

There aren't any graphics glitches like i've seen people mention with other hardware.

And I run it on a 9700pro and it's fine, but there's either certain configurations or certain cards it doesn't work well with. Perhaps a survey thread to find out exactly what it is would be useful...

For a minute I thought you were making belated fun of me. Then I say you wanted Spirits Within-grade monster. :p

I'd still take one, along with an extra 512mb 2700 DDR and a 120+gb E/IDE HD, if I could be choosy. I'm thankful for the hardware I have, tho.

For a bargain buy, the 6800GS looks sweet. Anyone running one of these with SL?

I wouldn't waist my time with a pre-overclocked card, especially BFG. Looked at the BFG GeforceFX 5500 256mb OC not too long ago before getting my eVGA GeForceFX 5500 256mb (non-overclocked).

BFG's specs was (core/ram) 290/350.

eVGA's specs was (core/ram) 270/400.

My current specs after OC'ing mine: 310/483

This is using optimal OC'ing in CoolBits wich is safe for stock cooling, I can actually get the core to 335 if I'm careful. With ehanced cooling I can get it higher obviously. But IMHO, its not worth the extra money for something you can do when you get home for free (and probly get more). BFG sacrfised RAM speed for Core speed wich is really a no no since memory speed is where alot of performance is. Besides, eVGA was also half the price and still retail. I'm currently looking at a few 6800GT's myself and working on deciding wich one I want to get.

I'm looking for one of these as an alternative to getting the more exspensive 6800GT, unfortunately in my search for one I have yet to find any.
