Is there a way to keep "homeless friends" that log out on private property from logging back in there? I have had several embarrassing incidents recently when I was having a private conversation with one friend and another logs in and rezzs in my house. It would be nice to have a setting that would disallow that from happening. Maybe they would log back in at the nearest telehub instead of my private property. I have asked several friends not to do this but dont want to be rude if they forget on occasion. Even people you dont know can log out on your property and log back into it. To me this seems like an invasion of privacy. Also anybody can set their "home" to your property. Would ne nice if the property owner would get a pop up asking if this was ok.

You can limit access using the about land (right click land, choose about land then ban/allow).

But thats about it..

Edit: Could post in feature suggestions.

To set something as your Home, you either need to own the land or be a member of a group that owns it.

As for your question, the only thing I can think of to prevent this is to have a sky platform. If it's high enough (not sure of the specific altitude, a few hundred meters or so) when they log back in they'll fall back down to the ground even if they were on the platform when they logged out.

Parcel out a small portion of the land and set it to the group that include the avie's you are calling "homeless". This parcel should be in a place where you will know that someone is logging in to your land but not directly in your bedroom. ;) Of course, this doesn't stop them from logging into their "last location", where ever that may be.

Someone is visiting your house.

They log off.

When they log back in, they're still at your house.

No, you can't stop that, Dora.

We need something like "don't let people log in at this location" in your parcel settings.

I did post this under feature suggestions per your suggestion. At least I know I am not the only one frusterated with this. LOL

Dorra, I'm sorry if you are already aware of this, but it has nothing to do with your friends being homeless. Anyone that comes to your home and then logs off and has log in at last location checked will show back up at your house. It doesn't have to be just the ones without a home set. In fact, most people have I think the welcome area set until they bet land or join a group and have their how set there.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?
Yes, it's true, I have a blog now!

You could also ask them to switch over to "Log in at my home location" rather than at their last location, if they're homeless it'll probably be the welcome area..

You could build a skybox. I'm not sure what the threshold height is, but you cannot log into the skybox if its above a certian height. At least I know I can't log into mine at 500m

I can ask them to swith over to log in at "home" but why should I have to be responsible for someone elses settings and since I am always making new friends I would have to be that over and over again. Lots easier if I can just check an option in my property management.

Thanks for the suggestions and for clearing up some on my misinformation.

Buy a security system and turn it on when you want alone time >:) Nothing like hearing that 'Thud' LOL ;) Just be sure to explain to freinds this is what you intend on doing . Will save on any embarrasment.

Yes! And it's just as embarassing for the person who forgets and has "last location" set, and logs into someone's living room unvited, as I have done. And the person is there! woops!

This is one of several reasons why I always go home first before logging off.

Personally, I've always found it disorienting to just be /anywhere/ when I logged in. Happened to me in There, most likely something similar in TSO, and certainly here.

Instead of asking your guests to change their settings... or asking them to leave the premises before logging out ... build them a nice, comfy and pretty "debarkation point" ... LOL .... "Please step to into the red circle before logging off."

LOL

Yeah, its just a politeness thing.

All you can do is ask them not to do it, and in my experience its way more embarassing to the person ressing, than the person being "invaded."

I have logged on lots of times, just to do a specific task, and mistakenly showed up at someones house, only to have to engage in a half hour of conversation just to be polite.

:)

In RL of course, I am tapping my foot and looking at my clock...!
