Big Mistake To End This Forum

Has anyone started their own forum to continue this one for all of us?

I know that there are several, but which one will offer what this one did?

In my opinion, ending this forum is just lame. This place is a great source of information for everyone, and keeps us all linked into one area where we know most will come for help or advice. Having other scattered forums will lead most of us to wander aimlessly looking for information and most likely missing things that are important....sigh.

www.slforums.com and here are my reasons...
It is MILDLY moderated
They have banners
Featured products
Last 5 new products on front page
Last 10 posts scrolling on main page
Shoutbox
Arcade
Chat
They are fair when moderating, allowing names and negative comments if need be don't allow things such as death threats...
They do lots of stuff to help and prmote sellers and consumers
Option to have account verified with your SL name

This is just a small list www.sl-forums.com has to offer :)

But closing it means that Linden Lab can get it's own message out without having to deal with oh-so inconvinent reality checks from the users.

- Fairly Moderated
- Troll catch mechanism in place
- One of the few alternate forums with an active in-world presence.
- News and items of general community interest.
- New User help guides.
- Part of the world's largest and oldest multi MMORPG community site.

We have great plans, and look for a news release shortly!

There are a lot of great forum choices, those listed here and a number of others. My own site is meant to continue this one as closely as possible. It uses the exact same forum layout (the "Resident Converstaion" forums) using the latest version of vBulletin (3.6). The site and host have been paid for two years in advance with an initial 200GB of storage and 1TB of monthly bandwidth.

You can also read some reviews of forums here:

http://www.secondlifeinsider.com/2006/09/02/aimees-second-life-forum-review/

Perhap your best bet is to just explore the offereings, get a feel for their communities, and maybe even hang around a number that you feel are informative/entertaining.

Right now my biggest concern is how to alert newer residents of places to go to get their answers and discuss their concerns. The advantage of this central, official location was obvious.

This forum will still be the place to be for help, only the moronic parts of it will be outsourced.

Every time Lewis plugs Stratics Quetzalcoatl bends a baby dolphin over and sodomizes it savagely with Hello Kitty dildos.

That's located right between the plumb bob and the Johnson rod, right?

What is your troll catch mechanism? Ban anyone that says something that disagrees with you?

Well, no. Lewis's answer is that "he doesn't run the forums and has no input on its running." Der.

I'd avoid any forums hosted for profitable gain that wasn't run by the program creators.

It would seem like beating a dead horse to those who partake in the forums day in and day out which is not the case for all users. This question is a new one for consideration by those who venture into the forums on a less frequent interval. I've never really known what that 10% of users who frequent the forums figure means anyway in the same way the definition is elusive for the total number of users on the front page.

I'm guessing that the folks at SecondCitizen didn't designate you to be the recruiter even though you are promoting that site in your signature. I'm sure a more welcoming method of familiarizing people with this alternative forum would have been expected if they did or at least more effective. You just seem to have made a poor showing of what the OP, who is inquiring about forum alternatives, can expect from yours.

Disclaimer: I don't advocate for or against SC. Should anyone be wondering.
