Currently, I'm working on a program called "Thoth" that is intended to be used with Second Life and open up the realm of certain types of scripts that were previously relegated to elite programmers in SL. I'm not going to say what it is, but lets just say that there are certain scripts that even some of the best scripters in SL can't do because they don't have something like Thoth that drops the biggest part of those scripts in their lap.
Thoth is currently being programmed in Visual Basic. An ANSI C version is on the "might do" list, but as C is typically beyond the scope of most of SL's scriptors, the ANSI C version of Thoth is on the back burner, there's nothing in the pot and the burner's currently not turned on.
I apologise in advance to those who cannot compile or run VB programs. I also apologise in advance to those who cannot program in VB. If you learned enough LSL to even have a use for Thoth, VB won't be that hard to pick up.

Ah, Thoth. I remember him well. When he signalled the S'pht'Kr, I thought all hell would break loose.

Thanks for making me excited about something I know almost nothing about! ;) It gives me a general feeling of anticipation and mystery.

Sounds fascinating. One thing though, if you're planning any sort of commercial release, there is a program called Thoth already around, it's a newsgroup client. Just thought I'd mention in case you didn't know Best of luck with the programming project !

It's not commercial, and even if it were, this isn't in the same market as a newsgroup client. Trademarks only extend to the market they're registered for. You could theoretically have an audio program called Opera and it'd not conflict with the Opera browser, particularily if you used a different logo and took care so as to not have people confuse it with the browser. That's the key right there.
Anyway, yeah, i'm not wanting to say what it is just yet. But when it's done, I'll be releasing the full sourcecode to it to the general SL public.
