FYI, for those of you waiting for LindeX withdraws...

/invalid_link.html

I must have missed the announcement (I do miss them sometimes), but the Lindens find it all right to extend Federal holidays without notifying customers that are expecting their money to be withdrawn "on business days except holidays".

In the Hotline response above, Lawrence, who overall did an excellent job on LindeX, clarified that the Thanksgiving holiday was in FACT a Linden Holiday consisting of the 24th AND 25th. Now I don't know about anyone else, but in the business world around me, people were back to work on the 25th. Even computer programmers.

I am curious if the Linden defintion of the "Christmas holiday" means no business will get done on the day before Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas itself and the day after?

The office I work at was closed on both Thanksgiving and the Friday after. I'm pretty sure most of our clients were as well.

I work for a county government and we get Nov 24 & 25 off for Thanksgiving, Dec 23 & 26 for Xmas, and then Jan 2 for New Years... then we get Jan 16 for MLK day. I can't remember when Cesar Chavez Day is off the top of my head. Somewhere in March.

a business day is widely defined as any standard day for conducting business, excluding weekends and public holidays. while many offices are closed the day after thanksgiving, it is not considered a public holiday, making it an official business day.

That's my point. I have no problem when companies give more time off, they just need to make their customers aware of what a "business day" is to them.

I personally was not affected by the recent rash of slow LindeX withdrawals. But check the hotline forum and you'll see a good many number of people who were, and it's my bet none of them knew about the extended holiday.

P.S. My wife and I both had to work on the 25th, so even though others didn't, there were a lot of people that did not see the 25th as a holiday.

Hmmm I guess I can see that point. Having said that I think all they need to do is announce it. After all it is their business not ours and we cannot dictate to them anything.

It most certainly was not. Additionally, the bank can't be closed more than 2 consecutive days.

Not sure if you saw but they still wont be sending it till the close of business on monday, thats 15 days or 3 weeks, then she has to wait for it to be posted internationally, which if its surface mail can be 3-10 days

Guess you are pleased that LL isn't here then, where a large number of businesses wiull be closed from the 23rd or 24th December through till the 2nd or 3rd of January. And some right through until the 9th or 16th of January.

But then if you were here, you would be enjoying the wonderful warm Summer sunshine, and beautiful beaches, instead of being huddled around your heaters, freezing your butts off, and pretending to like that icky white stuff you all call snow :D

Wherever you work has crappy vacation benefits, IMHO. Every tech job I've had has ALWAYS had the day after Tday off. The only time I didn't get it off was when I was working in Hell, also known as retail.
