It is rather easy to do if you know a person's key, and you can find a lot of them on ulrika's website, bless her soul.
All you need to do is send a message to an SL object through email or xmlrpc, and have that object llInstantMessage the person. Thing is, you can't reply. There is no way to IM an object. You could of course build something that would take regular chat text and email the website with a response. I believe someone already made an SL <-> IRC gateway once. _____________________
