I'm not a whiner, I'm not a bitcher, but I really have to say...
GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY.....please please for the love of god and all that is good FIX this!!
No really, I'm sure this is a dead horse, but since I pay my monthly fee I get to bitch.
I get that U can't roll back, lord if only....but this is soooo bad, I mean REAL bad.
And I am WELL aware of the fact that the LL gods bust their collective asses to do what they do. And I'm also well aware that when it comes to computer jargon I'm pretty much left in the dust. Not just 'jargon' but I'm just not a 'computer' gurl.
BUT I do know that this update has been bad....I WILL not bash LL(I will just travel to Cali and throttle them all in their sleep), but please help a poor gal.
Shit....I actually tried WoW cuz hubby and all 3 kids were pushing me to and it's not really my bag, but I HAD to, SL was hosed. See what U've driven me to?

From: Nyx Divine See what U've driven me to? I've never seen a contraction formed with a net-speak single-letter word before. It's like you're stabbing an English teacher to death with your words. ~Ulrika~

I started my montly payments and bought land 1 week before the update and now i wish i didn't even bother paying. I agree with you, the patch has been at it for 2 weeks and things dont seem to get any better. With technology today, updates are streamed to you while you are online playing. Here, I had to download the update about 5 or more times already just to get what im getting. These step in downloading updates are so 1990-ish for such a great game.

You're feelings of frustration are normal. It's been over ten-days since the release of version 1.7 and you've reached and passed the "resolution threshold" for a customer service problem. By way of analogy, your car is still in the repair shop after ten-days of you waiting for it to be fixed and you're now test driving other cars. Lots of other players have passed their resolution threshold. Lots of other players are also "test driving other cars."
Once your threshold for a resolution to a customer service problem is passed you'll start doing other things, too. You might decide to tier-down. You might decide to reduced your account status. You might engage in "warning behaviors" where you tell friends and family in which you previously encouraged them to play SL to not try the product as you feel it has certain problems (that you no longer place as high a value on the product/service).
New residents arriving in-world are experiencing similar problems. They're essentially "test driving" the game and based on the current state of the 1.7 client they might be less likely to upgrade their account status.
We, as residents, won't really have any idea if there's been a hit to tier fee revenues due to problems within version 1.7 until the release of the November Developer Incentive Awards (around the second week of December) and extrapolate the math back to see if the amount of erosion in the percentage of residents owning more than 512-sq.m of land has accelerated dramatically. This doesn't mean LL won't try to resolve the problem before taking a revenue hit. The Lindens all want us to have an enjoyable in-world experience, but until the engineers can arrive at a suitable technical solution, test it, and roll it out, we're all in the same boat.

Ive been doing on-liners for over 10 years now and have been in sims from beta to close.
Curently I play in SL, Guild Wars, and Star Wars Galaxies.
Ive been in both SWG and GW frm beta. SWG continues to struggle with nasty updates and patches, MASSIVE loss of goods, and players. Guild Wars has always ran smoothly. Even in the very begining.
Ive been in SL for a few weeks, and I would never invest in the shakey platform they are using. The graphics are way below standard, and the world very unstable.
Oh the ohter hand, I have met more cool people in SL, in the short time Ive been there, than in GW for the entire time its been running.
Im sure Lindens will iron out the problems in time, or fold. That is the way of good sims.
Me, Ill be heading back to Star Wars now that they have recinded the CU that drove 50% of thier players away.
Opps, My sim is back up, Im in !!

Given that you know all that you do, what would you have them do?

Me, I've made my little adjustments. Largely that means I've learned to build at approximately 1/3 slower rates. I'm pretty good with patience, and this is just a matter of more patience. The only part I'm not good at now, though, is textures shopping. That tries even MY patience. I went out and played Blood 21 one night and I could do that, too. I don't mess with my inventory any more. So there I am, building really slowly until they get these problems fixed. Not tiering down; not spending any less time in the game. (But yes, engaging in those "warning behaviors" mentioned above - will not bring anyone into the game when it's like this.) But here's the deal: I fear that what I am building will have no BUYERS. I'm still paying tier, and not panicking, and not too miserable or anything, but it's a gamble. If things get fixed and pick back up, I've won the gamble. If not - well, I guess I'd tier down and just stick around to build as a hobby and chat. Course I'm paying $25 per month per tier. I understand if someone is paying $325, and losing money, they would tier down sooner. coco

My guess is people can't be bothered to build their own furniture while the game is like this
