I'm finding that newbies these days tend to spend between twelve seconds and three minutes on Orientation and Help Islands before coming to the mainland -- at random, apparently, but usually directly in front of where I happen to be standing -- and peppering me with questions that I was able to answer myself when I was still on the Islands lo those many moons ago (about 240, SL-timewise) by just READING the feckin' notecards from the help pylons scattered all over. Jeez! </rant>

Oh, and it's like something out of "Attack of the Clones", as I keep running into people who haven't bothered to custsomise their appearance at all -- same white t-shirt, same blue jeans, same face and hair. That's getting to be one of the first things I tell new folk -- go off into a corner or under a tree somewhere, go into Appearance and play with EVERY single slider on every option until you look more unique. That was the very first thing I did on Help Island, as soon as I rezzed -- changing my appearance. The second thing was stepping off to the side, because people kept landing on my head.

Really, LL should make you spend at least a 24-hour day on Orientation Island before letting you go to the mainland (which would cut down on griefing alts as well), or give out learning points for at least clicking on the instructions and letting you leave after you've accumulated enough points. I enjoy helping new people, but I get tired of answering the same obvious questions over and over. Read at least SOME of the rules yourself before you play the game. (Yes, I know, it's not a game ... :) )
