Did anyone watch it? I didn't know Philip was so hot. Also he mentions trying to make SL better than RL, do you think he achieved that?

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

I do notice that SL's politics are liberal in rules but not so tolerant towards everything. This must have been Philip's idea of perfection.

I think it works for the most part but I hope this game isn't meant to keep people away from real life. Sure real life can suck but without real life, how would anyone be able to pay for Second Life? I mean is someone going to sit there and eat food from second life instead of real life food? Lol oh that would suck...only because we need real food.

He hasn't made it better, but he is coming close to replicating the frustration level. :)

Here's the link which is also on the front page of second life.
I can't believe it. This is the first game I've seen have any news coverage that didn't also talk about the negatives or just the negatives. Maybe it's because it has that only 18+ play this game misconception.

That article is horribly lacking in its description of SL. It leaves out an aweful lot of information an aweful lot of people should know before getting into SL. It sure as hell isn't World of Warcraft... and there isn't really much on the SL mainpage to let people know they might be seeing role-play rape or virtual child abuse.

I did notice the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the news page though.

Yes, but there are people who do things we disagree with at every game online. There are many things I love about SL, and I won't leave because of it. We have to remember, these are consenting adults who do these things, and we can choose to leave a location if we do not like whats going on. Although perhaps there should be a warning to parents who let their underage children play.

it would be better than not! If we are supposed to be tolerant then LL could at least do their part.

There should definitely be a warning... but unfortunately, parents can't monitor their children's access to the internet 100% of the time. I can't monitor my daughter when she is at a friend's house.

As for the consenting adults... from what I have seen in SL since I first joined... there is a rather active underage population in SL. You never know how old the person at the other end of a digi-peen really is.

No social responsibility + lack of customer care = downgraded account for Burnman. I'm pretty much going into inactive mode with SL, and will only be popping in from time to time to catch up with some friends.

*cue funny wavey lines from old tv shows for flashbacks*

Awwww.... reminds me of the first time I saw TSO on the news. Back before it was forgotten about by the powers that be.

Not forgotten by those who matter the most. But as for Maxis dropping the ball, others have found it...(also interesting from a SL/METAVERSE perspective).

*Thinks LL should release the BETA for host server sooner than later*
