Please, LL, I want ducks in my pond!

So this may explain a problem I've been having Kim. Well me and my partner in world. It seems that when we put some of our pets that we purchased out on an inclosed area. They seem to somehow go off world and get returned to us. Yes they can run but they are totally enclosed. But they can be ridden which would lead me to belive they use push. Which is in fact turned off on all my land. If this may be why our pets are being returned and having issues I too would like that fixed. It's not healthy for us or them :(

My partner and I thought it was a great idea. But, if this keeps happening it may be a great idea that never gets to come to be. So sad it will be if that is the case. But, I guess if that is the case then in some respect the griefers still get to grief because even us that don't use push for the wrong reasons have to pay a price to not allow the wrong reasons we think to intrude on the reasons we want it.

I hope that made since. I think it does. Then too I have been known to confuse many and even myself later.

I may be wrong, but i think push restriction only restrics push on avatars.

That is how push restriction should work. But, things don't always work as they should here in SL by any streatch. I'd love to always say OH WOW I love what they just added because it works so GREAT. Unfortunately I can't do that. Because to do so would be living in a dream and then telling it all as a lie.

Push Restiction works, and as intended.

Yes, some have found ways around it, but it makes it more difficult for the griefers. With a few other tools most griefers are rendered powerless. I'm not sure about hotspots (not mentioning the places as so not to draw fire to them) but from all I've seen, griefing has taken a sharp plunge.

This tool, however, is only one of several we have, and more are being worked on. With such a diverse cretive environment, there is no way everything can be foreseen ahead of time. Tools against griefers are designed reactively and LL must be careful that those tools can not be used by the griefers and that they do not negatively impact the community.

In short, we want, and need, more, but will have to work with what we have until the next line of tools is finished. I'd much rather wait and have something that works within the parameters needed than something that can be used to grief me in return.

True Mute is what I'm waiting for.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

Which kind of true Mute were you looking for Jessy?

I have asnd still ask for an option that exists in most online systems: Appear Offline. If enabled you wouldn't come up in Find, the Friends list, the Group Lists, or anywhere but when someone was standing right in front of you. This wouldn't solve things a global mute would, but it is a standard and useful tool.

As for push, caged pushes and mass pushes continue to be major problems. Some additional talk can be found here:

True Mute: That avatar no longer exists for you. Not Chat, not IM's, not rezzed objects, not sound, not scripts. Nothing. It would be to your client as if that person was no longer a part of SL. A ghost if you will. Part of such would also landban a mute from any land you own, prevent thier scripts from working on you or your land, and prevent them from rezzing or moving objects onto your land.

Obviously, there are a few stepping stones to get over on this one first.:D And it is a dream of a perfect mute. I highly doubt all will ever come about.........but I can dream;)

My friend and I tested push restriction the night it came out, using the sort of things we had in our inventory (which are in no way sophisticated), and sometimes it worked, sometimes sorta worked, and sometimes didn't work at all.

As for toys - I had the push restriction on one night, and someone set out an exploding sheep, but it didn't work right. That may have been because push restriction was on (in which case it does work on items) or some other reason. I didn't test it further.

So my experience is if you are pretty paranoid or attacked a lot, put push restriction on and it might help. Or it might not.

I prefer not to have it on, really, cause my friends and I like to push each other around. We're just that way.

While I still get pushed around, I'm not going into low-sim-orbit anymore on push restricted land. But I still have some nasty toys for fucktards that mess with me when I'm working.

You know when you play games like Everquest or Anarchy Online, you can walk right through other players. Why is it that in SL we have to shove them anyway? IRL if i shoved my father he would beat the tar out of me. I know in the past we were able to phantom our avatars but that meant we would fall through the terain and kinda bounce around. Is there some way LL can fix the terrain so its still unpassable and just give us back phantoming so we cant be shoved?

Just like the dream i have had about having a Yahoo style Friends list with invisability options for online status (not avatar).

What Jessy said. As it stands we can ban people from land but they can still rez prims on that land, still cause particle effects & so forth on the land they're banned from - in short, cause havoc just by hovering outside the parcel boundary. Turning on auto-return only works to a point because in the minimum 1-minute time segment you can still lag everyone to the point they have to relog.

"Banned" should mean "completely muted, no longer able to create anything".

I just want privacy. XD

I also dreamed that the graphics in Sl were better then oblivion once with perfected hair, reflecting bumpmapped walls for candle light flickering, and a stable physics engine. :p The SL in my head is much better. Everyone sign up!
