Is there a car out there better than the Dominus? Everyone seems to have this car and I'm looking for something different.

No, there's not. Why do you think "everyone" has it?

I've seen other cars that look as good as the Dominus, prim/texture wise. But they aren't in the same ballpark when it comes to features and the level of script functionality.
I was inspired by the Dominus to make my HV-02. I know that's not a car persay (it's a hovercraft) but I tried to use the same formula as the Dominus -- Fine-tuned physics, lots of options, and high detailing. I don't sell a whole lot, but I've never gotten a complaint about them so I guess folks enjoy 'em.

It's the most commonly seen car in SL, and by better I meant performance wise, looks are second. I just want somethng that can out do a dominus, I don't care if it's a wooden box with wheels.

I dont see the point of cars in SL.
You dont really have decent roads, they lag and have poor controls (Yes even the Dominus).
Even planes arnt much better, although they have a use for flying up high.
You have a free personal teleporter AND you can fly, you dont really require more.

Personal opinion; No. There is none better. 6th gear I cross a sim in less than 2 seconds. 1st and 2nd are good for cruising/touring, plus it flies if you want, or want to avoid laggy builds/scripts in sims. Personally, I desprately wish DoMoCo would produce other models. I'd LOVE a '78 Trans Am model. Saying the Dominus is better than all the rest can never be based in fact, however. Too many people create on a daily baisis. The Dominus suits a wide genre of tastes though, and is very well made, physically, textured, and scripted. A perfect blend to reach the widest selection of the populance. The relitively low price is also a sell point. I've seen vehicles close to the Dominus, but selling for 10k+. (or not selling as teh case my be.) If you want to out-speed the Dominus, that can be done by tweaking a vehicle script, but handling will go to hell. Until roads are completed and sim-crossing makes about a 10000 times improvement, I don't see the reason for it. Good luck though. ~Jessy

I've always loved Starax's Go-Go. It may still be available in Avalon. Try the Linden vehicle sims for driving around in. They have race courses, marked routes, bridges and huge, open spaces to fly or drive. The sims are Brilliant, Bethel, Goguen, Fame, Fortuna, and Balance.

It looks like a cross between a maggot and a sprint car, and when you get in to drive it, the whole damn thing tips over on its side. It's freakin awesome.

No, not really. It drives and it flies, and it does them well. It's harsh going over sim borders, but that's because of deficiencies in LL's code that Francis can't do anything about. (My jets have the same issue due to the number of scripts.)
You can make a vehicle smoother by having fewer scripts, but... then you have to put up with a smaller feature set. If you want a car that's smoother over sim borders, you can find one, but it will not have anywhere near the features and personality of a Dominus. I really don't like "bland" handling vehicles, it makes you feel like you're in some kind of UFO or something.
Also, even if you DO find one that's smoother, sim border crossing is so f'ed up right now that it will probably still be annoying. I've noticed that when someone else enters a sim, it freezes *everyone* for a moment - even if they're not on a particularly script-heavy vehicle.
I never use the Dominus HUD, since I can figure out what gear I'm in and speed doesn't matter that much to me. It helps.

My only thing against the Shadow is that it seems to take it's time crossing sim lines.
Other than that the Shadow is frickin awesome.
Rember, if you dont like everyone else's... roll your own!
Step 1. Build Car
Step 2.
Step 3. Profit!

A car called "Dominus", huh? I'm reminded of the 6000 SUX from Robocop.
