your vendor, you get a little nervous. This guys shows up at my store and I dont know him. His profile is pretty barren. I assume he's someone's alt because his account is a year old and the empty profile. But then he starts paying my vendor $220 for items that are only $50. The first purchase or two I figured was a mistake. After a couple more I IM'd him and said the price was only $50. He didnt respond and kept trying to buy at a higher rate. I was nervous that he was trying to use some kind of vendor bug to get refunded more than he paid. Eventually he started paying $50 and even kept buying at $50 so I guess he really was shopping and just had a brain dump. Either that or he's covering tracks. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was kept in a newbie stay fresh pouch for a year and released today? For a moment I was tempted to send my money to my alt just in case there was a bug.

From: Annah Zamboni your vendor, you get a little nervous. The vendor refunded him the correct amount. After a few purchases I IM'd him and told him the price was $50 not $220 but he didnt reply. Eventually he started paying $50 and even kept buying at $50 so I guess he really was shopping and just had a brain dump. Either that or he's covering tracks. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was kept in a newbie stay fresh pouch for a year and released today? For a moment I was tempted to send my money to my alt just in case. I'm sorry, I'm confused. What is it you were worried he was trying to do exactly?

From: Ananda Sandgrain But this wasn't your alt, then? No. I assume he's an alt cause he's been here a year, has no 2nd life pic or says much at all in his profile. Hmm, I reread my story and I can see where it might be confusing. Maybe I'll reword it.

Haha.
Btw, did you check your account history to make sure you didn't repay him more then you should?

So multiple purchases of the same item at $50L? If so, can we expect those items to show up at a yard sale soon?

From: Frans Charming Haha.
Btw, did you check your account history to make sure you didn't repay him more then you should? Oh I was watching my balance making sure it was correct after the first couple of transactions. From: someone So multiple purchases of the same item at $50L? If so, can we expect those items to show up at a yard sale soon? The items were for $50 and no they werent the same item each time. They were different ones each time. He was paying $220 or so each time but would get $170 refunded each time and I'd gain $50 each time. The items were also no transfer. Nothing really wrong occurred just some odd behavior and the numbers were all correct in the end.

It sounds completely legit.... It sounds like at first, he wanted multiple items, and thought it he paid $200 for a $50 item, he would recieve 4 at once... but that didnt work, so then he bought at the regular price. Seems kosher to me. And, he may not be buying copies for a yard sale... he could be buying prizes to give away, he could simply be buying something he loves to give to a few friends. He could also be a reseller finding items that he thinks he can sell at a higher price. ...all of which, he's still buyin your stuff, and your stuff is gettin out there. Sales make me happy .... so , get happy! you sold stuff )

From: Vares Solvang So then why did you post this thread, if it turned out to be nothing? In case he did it somewhere else. Perhaps whatever he was doing didnt work on my vendor but might on another. Maybe it was nothing? Dunno. I was tired and felt like posting it. I'm sorry there's no drama.

My guess is the last thing he bought was the L$220 price. When you click pay, the last amount that was typed in shows up. If you're not paying attention it's easy to pay the old amount.

I would have been suspicious as well. It's the "not responding when IMed" thing for me, combined with the odd behaviour and the age. I've never met a customer who didn't at least say something if I say "hello". But, you know, if somebody wants to buy a few hundred L$ worth of stuff in order to see if they can exploit a vendor... well, that's up to them. As long as they don't then turn around and ask for a refund

Hmm weird situation here as well...I was thinking maybe the resident was, let's say a bit slow, but they were feeding the camp/slot type machines like crazy.
This playing of slots is suppose to raise payout etc. on machines and chair times (best way to describe I hope, I don't run the machines just know they are profitable).
To play is a 10L set amount. The person that was playing was hitting as many machines and as fast as they could.
Transactions looked correct as far as pay ins and pay outs, and our account went up as it should with profit.
The curious thing was that someone on one of the chairs kept getting paid 1L amounts by accident from this person and they then IMed us about it. The amount to pay is the automatic 10 Linden one button kind.
Could there be a hack/exploit where the person can somehow change the packets back and forth between the owner and the Linden Server? I know on our end all looks great, we were making a profit so why would we complain about a compulsive clicker.
Something just seems fishy to me.
Maybe someone knows if maybe this is some kind of macro, I could understand if it was one machine close to the person getting misclicked, but this person had to be there to click so many different machines and people.
There is no way after 2 days that this person surely wouldn't have seen they were losing their butts...but then were they??
I am going to keep an eye out for this happening again, but if it is an exploit I am sure if they are smart they are moving around the grid still doing this.

Wasn't there a JEVN price bug a while ago where if you overpaid, you got more than you put into it? Maybe if you're using JEVN vendors, he thought you didn't upgrade them yet. (And no, I didn't try this.)

I am going to keep an eye out for this happening again, but if it is an exploit I am sure if they are smart they are moving around the grid still doing this. Well there were occations where my older slot machines were exploited by pay-spamming. I was never able to replicate it, but I had two instances where people were able to get more money refunded than they should by issuing 20+ payments to the machine in a second or two (I saw the account history from the customer being exploited). It was only a couple hundred, but still its not something I would sell. So I rebuilt all my slot machines to use a credit system instead to be on the safe side, and it never happened again.

I'd be curious too. There is always someone bad out there trying to find bugs to rip off vendors.

I don't see anything wrong with this post at all.
Actually, after reading some of the initial responses to this, I feel a little left out in that I understood the post perfectly the first time I read it and also understood perfectly why the OP felt compelled to mention it, in case someone else might have experienced something similar.
Does this mean there's something wrong with me?? lol

I assume he's someone's alt because his account is a year old and the empty profile. Everything you said matches my girlfriend's account perfectly. She joined on January 2005, logs in once a month or so, and mostly sits in my basement quietly building something or another. Doesn't talk much to anyone but me. Her english sucks and she's too shy to go around talking to random strangers She says she really likes flying, "it's like a dream". I don't think she's ever actually bought anything though.
