I feel a little like Homer Simpson in that episode where Flanders opened a store for the Left-Handed. Where in the end he solved everyone's problems by telling them about this store, but.. I didn't enjoy watching anyone suffer from lack of business.

There is a forum for content creators, started by the mac himself, Hiro Pendragon:
SLDevelopers.com - it's pretty cool. Ajaxy.

There's also... well, my forum. It's not much, but it's verified registration, drama-free (for now) and open to scriptors and creators. I'll be setting up appropriate catagories if people are interested. The Switchboard

Update-izzle!

SecondCitizen has given us a Scripting Forum

Woot! I've already taken the liberty of dumping some open-source goodness.

Also, if I may add, SecondCitizen has a Classifieds section which is reply-enabled but no-bump. Might be handy when all that hardcore scripting and building has come to fruition.

I've read the blog several times and not once have I seen that they are shutting down the Content Creation part of the Forum.

I do have AADD and miss the obvious at times, so if you see something that I missed, kindly point it out.

Here you go its down by the long term changes. They didn't exactly say when it would happen though.

Long Term Changes
The Classifieds will be closed in favor of Resident advertising and portal sites such as those listed on http://secondlife.com/landing fashion/, the In-World Classifieds (which can also be found on the secondlife.com website).

We aren't talking about Classifieds, we are talking about Content Creation

No need to put the little bold lettering. I copied the wrong thing. Sorry

The knowledge base and blog will take on some of the responsibilities of many of the feedback and content creation forums.

My bad. It's still under the long term changes either way.

http://forums.sluniverse.com has forums for content creation and scripting, and as Burke mentioned earlier, the companion site http://sldevelopers.com which Hiro and I have created (and I host as well) is a separate forum dedicated not just to scripting, but to content creation and also issues related to doing professional work within Second Life. It isn't just forums, it has user blogs and a file library as well, with more to come.

No worries. It is a bit misleading. They say "some" but not all. So what exactly is "some"? Which of the content forums are they closing? Either way I think it’s a big pain and a tad bit unfair to expect residents to take on the responsibility of providing forums for such a large user base. Newer members always look to offical forums to provide them with information. With forums spread all over the place it will be harder for them to get the helpful information they might need.

From Robin Linden's comment in the same blog...

From: someone

First, many of you expressed concern about closing the content creation forums. Right now we plan to leave the content creation forums alone. Over time we will find ways to preserve the content in those forums, if not by leaving them intact, then by making sure there are other options where that content can live. The scripting library, clothing templates, and how to’s of these forums are invaluable, and won’t be thoughtlessly discarded.

One should not overlook the libsecondlife forum or the mailing list, you can get the mailing list address from the there.

How funny, Suezanne! I was going to plug it myself.

Any word on whether the Lindens will have a Community Links page, with links to important forums or projects?

Hmm. Maybe I'll go to SL Answers and ask about that.

Since the SL forums are going down, I'm going to add a scripting section to the libSecondLife forums. I don't think we need a general "content creation" section, since we're really not about building: we're about programming.

The "content" being created is user interface extensions. More if things go well.
