You may be leaving earlier than you thought and poorer than you hoped.

Then again as the OP may not have logged into the game in a while, he might or might not be subject to the New and Oh So Improved ToS.

Also, as many have been keen to point out, just because the ToS says that LL can do something doesn't mean they necessarily will. Then again, unless the OP posts again, we may never know. Here's hoping that LL is not necessarily as crass as the ToS claims to allow them to be.

I expect the reason that LL are so insistent about not transferring accounts is that you will have to give the ID and password to the buyer. They'll then have to log into the account and change the billing information.

That screen will display your credit card data, RL address et cetera until the new owner overwrites it. Hang on; there's a new screen; let me check this. Okay the new screen does not relate any current billing information.

nm - sorry

I believe that in this context, OP = Original Poster.

I understand the TOS says accounts belong to LL and not the person paying for it, but that is a strange thing. In The Sims Online, I was able to sell my account with the inventory and money I had accumulated. I don't understand why LL can't make it possible to sell an account and hide all personal information during the transfer.

The other option, since my Account belongs to LL, but my "Stuff" belongs to me,
si simply to sell all my "Stuff" to a buyer. Someone who has an account of their own, but is there to buy the "ME" that I have developed (Except my name).

Now this doesn't solve the whole "Paid for a year but changed my mind 2 months in" scenario. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a cure for that -- just Darwinian forces.

Just a reminder - accounts are not transferrable and if it is found that an account has been sold/transfered, they may be cancelled.

Why would anyone pay for an account when they can get one for free?

In TSO, it was also against ToS to sell your account, simoleans or virtual possessions.

He said he was able to, not that he was allowed to :p

1. A seasoned account makes a new user seem older.

2. Often a user has created an awesome looking AV with many non-transfer items that would take a new user a lot of money and time(if ever) to recreate.

3. An established name in business is worth money, just as if a well known company sells out, the buyer wants the instant recognition the established name provides, and the buyer is willing to pay for it.

For these reasons I believe if SL is to be like a real economy, it should allow the transfer of accounts/names.

Just my L$5.1
