LCK Lightsabers within SL

As the creator of the Lightsaber Construction Kit, and subsequently the killer of that same product, I am a little bit concerned that a certain someone is still using the LCK name for a product they are creating and claiming to continue the version numbering system laid out when the LCK was in production.

If the person in question wishes to create a lightsaber that functions like, or is even derived from, the LCK, that is fine. What I ask is that the name "Lightsaber Construction Kit" no longer be used, so as to avoid product confusion. The LCK is defunct, but the scripts are still the property of the creator, namely me.

In a nutshell, call it something else. Not LCK.

Lucasfilm would probably prefer that you hadn't used the word "lightsaber" either. Anyway, you should talk to whoever is doing it. I don't think posting about it here will have any effect on the situation.

Calling another product by the same name is severely misleading; the LCK was quite a popular product for a time there, and many folks will jump to the erroneous conclusion that the current product is a continuation of the older product, which is NOT the case. I've already fielded several IM's asking if our decision to take the LCK off the market was changed, since they heard the 1.6 was released. Ummmmm to be frank, no. I was nice about telling the people who asked me that, indeed, whomever was claiming the LCK had been updated was either a) mistaken, or b) lying.

The LCK is no longer in production - anyone claiming they are producing it is either knowingly attempting to cash in on the LCK name with a different saber, or is unknowingly causing repercussions beyond what they intended. The scripts for the LCK 1.5 were never released to the public; anyone claiming to have improved upon those is mistaken. Taking the old 1.4 scripts and revamping them? It's quite possible, and more power to anyone who wants to or already has. But Jora's right - calling the new product by the name LCK is wrong.

In short, instead of cashing in on someone else's name and hard work, be proud of your own work. Rename it and let it stand on it's own - if it's good, you won't have a problem selling it. I really hope it works for anyone who decides to make a go of it.

Why was the LCK taken off the market?

I haven't been involved with SL Jedi roleplay since the giant fiasco several months ago, so I'm out of the loop.

LCK was my favorite lightsaber product.

There was a fiasco several months ago? I've been having a jones for another rp group, and I've been tempted to try out the Jedi groups, so I'm quite curious as to what happened.

well the jedi accused the sith of haxxoring and it all went downhill from there.

I understand there's a new Jedi group out there, and the sim Dantooine holds promise, but I got fed up with all the drama and dropped out of the scene at least for awhile.

It was due to the constant drama being thrown around that the LCK was taken down. It got to the point that I couldn't log into SL without 50-60 IMs all trying to badger me into changing something, threats for boycott if I didn't sale to them and only them, too many other things to go into. It all got to be far too much for me to the point that SL was no longer enjoyable.

Ahhh, I dig it. Too bad, really. Your lightsaber kit was the best.

0_o yall are totaly wrong lck wasent taken off the market (( i may have missread a few posts))you can find lck sabers every were dantooine is a big place to get um. i.v got 4-5 diffrent lck sabers including 1 i made and if you cant find lck theres also rcs and dcs now too

Jora is the creator of the LCK, if she says she's taken it off the market she has and by that means no future updates & no techsupport. It ended at 1.4 when a disgruntled business partner handed it out as a freebie with full permissions. Anything claiming to be a countinuation based off the non-released 1.5 is a fake, anything claiming to be the never existant 1.6 is a fake, as well as anything coutinued off 1.4 claiming to be the new LCK shouldn't be using the name LCK as its attempting to hijack loyal consumers of Jora's product(s). I would be pissed too if someone decided to take a stolen product of mine and market it for full price under the same name wich is what Jora is experiencing right now. Not to mension it gets really annoying and frustrating really fast when someone IM's you out of the blue for customer support for a version of a product of yours that never existed.

I wish the people had left you alone believe me i got alot of it too (my wife is still upset about it all) but when this all started we had a dream about realistic saber combat
if you want to come back to SL I think you and I could amazing things together. If you dont come back we understand and we will all miss you

I'm sorry, but am I alone in not caring? If you're not involved with the product anymore, I'm not even sure why YOU care.

I was glad to see new updates come out, and I honestly didn't care who made them so long as they were good. So what this all comes down to is the improvements must stop because of a name? Good God, this reminds me of the Prince fiasco.
