PHASE III of The NEUALTENBURG PROJEKT

Phase I was the original city in Anzere that relied on tier
contributions and shrunk due to dwindling membership (Neualtenburg in
Anzere).

Phase II was the private cooperative sim that ended in a coup.

PHASE III of The PROJEKT will be the implementation of PORT NEUALTENBURG

The Artist's City (Port Neualtenburg)

in brief it will be a new form of model for resident merchants. I will
be proposing several forms of residences that are both store and urban
dwellings, with store owners essentially having "workshops" to
instruct new builders , scripters etc in their craft.

Classes of merchants will be:

Meisters
(who own 2 story homes with an attached apartment and pay only 10% commision of their sales to the City -- basically a gallery commision)
They must also work for the city's infrastructure a certain amount of
hours per month (like in a food Co-Op) --building something for the City --throwing an event
--or teaching a class) . Meisters must be approved as such by the
Gildemeister --at which point they move to one of the grand shops on
Meisterstrasse. Meister's will also have acsess to a remote island
sandbox located in another Sim.

Journeymen who may set up a street wagon vendor on the Marktplatz and
who's only responsability is the 10% commision of sales.

Apprentices who are learning from Meisters with the goal of either
becoming Journeymen or Meisters themselves. Apprentices must pay
Meisters directly for the service of learning in doing assigned works, Not in Lindens.
Apprentices will be citizens but have no "property"

Meisters will be raised to that class by the Gildemeister (me) at my
own discretion and will retain their stores as long as they meet
minimum tithes and public service.

There is no voting as such, though the Gildemeister will meet once
monthly with the Meisters to discuss City affairs.

My hope is to create an organic system of artist/merchants working
together to maintain a community, and create teams of collaborating
artist groups to tackle both inside city infrastructure and contracted works.

The entire City thus offering itself up to do outside contract work for others.
A well oiled team of friendly artists who live and work together.
Bedazzeld with a social life attached.

My goal is to keep the system as free as possible of bureaocracy as I
recognize that was one of Phase II N'burg's fatal flaws.

Further to create an area for tourist shopping that also has the feel
of a lived in community because it will actually be a lived in
comunity.

So basically a loose cooperative of artist's working for themselves
and the appearance of the city with as little intrusion as possible
from a "leader" save for the input and mediation of conflicts by the benevolent
Gildemeister.

All this to be set amidst the surroundings of a charming Alsace-Lorraine style
town along the Rhine.

A brief look ahead to future Neualtenburg projekts...

Phase IV will be the implementation of

Colonial Neualtenburg
The City composed of more rural style housing and governed by
a representative parliamentary Government that is a colony of the
Larger Republic, and thus still beholden to the benevolent leader.

Phase V
The Neualtenburg Synod
Designed to be specialized to only the basic requirements of a city of
the mind (no houses --no First Life style architecture -- it is the
home of the Univversityl. It will be the seat of wisdom and judicial
MEDIATION. It will serve as special Council to the leader, but not as
final arbiter. The Synod will exist over all forms of online media and
not simply SL media. Forums, Blogs and Instant Messaging will play as
much a role as inworld SL activity. The Synod will be a bridge City
between SL and Cyberia.

More Citys can and will be added to the Republic of Neualtenburg as new ideas for Governments are formed.

They need not share common boundaries, but they must each have teleport
locations to the different citys as a form of mass transit.

I'd like to have those with interest contact me --as well as use these forums for any input you believe would make good additions. Or any questions, I have not either considered or you may have.

The Neualtenburg Projekt as always is interested in hearing the views of SL citizens who find our Projekt intriguing and wish to offer constructive critique.

I look forward to discussion here in these forums --and through contact either by message or in world.

Thank you in advance for any input,

--Kendra Bancroft

I believe you said that Neualtenburg belongs on the mainland. Does that mean you're going to be purchasing up a whole mainland sim to start, or start small and try and dig out space? Either way it seems like expansion will be a problem that way. The idea of having the different phases in different places helps, but being split up would kind of suck.

Maybe you can convince LL to do something with Anzere again finally and auction it off.

I actually rather like the idea of The Republic spotting all over the mainland grid in small unexpected placesd tied together by a coherent TP system.

In any event I am setting up Port Neualtenburg on my 20,000m coastline in the Funadama Sim.

Exapansion will be a problem --but also I think a fun challenge as well :) It also affords the Projekt to grow as it will.

Time will tell I suppose and the ability to move it all to a private sim when affordable is always an option. But I prefer the energy of the main grid for a variety of reasons.

I like the Anzere idea -- definately something to look into.

I do as well.

I was also thinking about the idea of uniting artisans in disparate places under the N'burg P3 banner, who would like to adhere to a common set of values, such as a uniform refund policy and a no piracy rule. Members belonging to Phase III could stamp their wares with a copyright and N'burg logo which would guarantee their quality. Conflicts would be handled by the Kendra.

This has been tried before but it has never succeeded. I think if anyone can do it, we can. :)

I agree, I like the mainland also, that's one of the reasons I've never bought an island yet. Even with all it's frustrations.

Anzere is a nice place. I like the snow sims when I've got someplace else to get away from a while when I've had too much white. :p I was looking at buying some land right on Anzere's border recently, cause I thought it'd be fun to have a whole snow sim to romp around in, but it'd be cool if it got developed again. I never got to see the old Anzere!

It was just like it is now, except on the top of the hill there was a large walled city with me, Kendra, and Torley dancing around with chicken hats on.

Marvelous idea, but I prefer to be addressed as simply Kendra. Not "The" Kendra.
And yes --there will be certain uniform laws of product, so that people buying N'burg P3 products will be guaranteed a level of quality and service.

Like wise there will be similar artist ethics codes that will protect both artist and consumer.

Let me know, I still retain a bit of land in Takalo (bordering Anzere) that I would be willing to sell you.

Looking at the pictures above, I'm suddenly wondering whether the new hardware lighting ripples on water like the sun/moon does?? Will have to try later, I bet it doesn't. Someone find out which Linden takes brib...erm...donations.

The new project sounds interesting and I wish you both success and prosperity. I personally will be keeping a close eye on your progress as I find all the resident gov't/organizations interesting. I also hope we can do some business together as I consider you both two of the finest artisans in SL. Thanks and good luck. -Pel
