Downtown seems quite

As a new citizen, I have been doing some exploring of our wonderful city and there is something that stands out to me.

I know many have invested many long hours/days/weeks/months to this project, so please excuse me if I seem at all to ignore those investments. I am very impressed with the city as it is.

In Venezuela there was a similar town in the hills outside Caracas, where many Germans sought refuge during WWII. It actually looks a lot like N'burg.

Anyway, my point is, I don't see much commerce etc. In the town I visited in Venezuela there were little shops everywhere. A watch maker, a home builder, a cafe or two for the locals to gather, and an assortment of shops around the square and down the side streets.

As I walked around N'burg, the shops and homes seemed empty. I imagined people sitting out in the square, in front of a cafe, chatting. Or people mulling about, window shopping.

Is/has N'burg tried to draw some merchants to the area with offers of low rent/taxes to those who meet the criteria? Another idea is to hold some events to let people know about N'burg. I admit I had a hard time figuring out the land issue. Without all the help I would never had known I could buy land here.

I shopped for hours for a house to fit the lot and criteria, and never did find one until Kendra told me Dianne has some. Thanks again to Kendra and Dianne :)

Maybe N'burg could find a home builder that would like to set up shop in N'burg. That would make it much easier for new citizens seeking to buy a house or shop for their land.

Just an idea I'm sure has been discussed before.

Thanks for reading it :)

Kevn,

All I can say is, we're working on it.

1) Neualtenburg actually has a mechanism for SL entities to incorporate in the city. AFAIK, the Neualtenburg School and Mirabeau Scribe are the only businesses to do so. The school is in the corner of the sim and, again AFAIK, Mirabeau Scribe doesn't have a location as such.

2) The lots around the Platz are to be auctioned to commercial interests as soon as it can be put together.

Once the auction happens, I hope business and traffic will pick up.

Just to follow up on Claude's clarifications:

You can choose to either incorporate (which requires a minim deposit of 10,000 L$ with the Neualtenburg Bank) or you can register your company, both of which give your company the privilege of seeking recourse in the Neualtenburg courts in the case of any disputes arising in your dealings. Gwyneth's Utterly Useless Devices (I'm not kidding you, that's the name of the company) has been registered as a Neualtenburg company and the Museum of Contemporary Art will follow suit as soon as possible.

Mirabeau Scribe is (to be) located in Talenstrasse 2205 - it's currently the red fachwerk building just off the Marktplatz on the corner where you have the Rathaus and Biergarten (a coincidence!).

I intend to replace the fachwerk soon and put up a decent office with a black wrought iron sign advertising the location and offering freebie templates for typical business documents (employment contracts, building contracts, incorporation forms et cetera). I have just been mired in other business lately, which has prevented me from pursuing this.
